Richard Tait , me David Bogle , Ade Bandele, Anthony Siu, Michael Mohammed, Sean McCormick , Steve Carticiano knew Jason since the 3rd grade miss Macauliffes class at St. Bede. Myself, David Bogle , Ade Bandele, Anthony Siu, Sean Mccormick, Johan Persaud & Michael Mohammed knew Jason since the 3rd grade miss Macauliffes class . We came up together as close friends more like brothers . I can honestly say , I wouldn’t be the man I am today without Jason in my life . The truest mark of a man is how the treat other people , and how they make others feel. And Jason not only lifted me up to unimaginable heights , but he climbed each rung of the ladder with me, and carried me along in a shared journey . We shared time honoured rites of passage and coming of age traditions, and all the ups and downs that come with that bond . He got me into and out of trouble , and no matter what , we always came out of these situations wiser and closer . Those who know will recall the times we spent by the old finch bridge , Jason was a lover of hip hop culture and named the area “dark chambers “ a nod to one of his favourite groups wu tang . Looking back at the fond memories we all shared there , it’s fitting that Jason gave the area that name , as light can only shine in the darkness. And Jason will continue to be a guiding light for us all . Science tells us energy is not created or destroyed. And Jason is the embodiment of energy. He lived with such a joy and vigour for life and all his passions that he was so proud to share with us . Ninja like Acrobatics, dancer , singer song writer, just being in his presence would put a smile on your face . Like a brother to us , he made it so that his triumphs were our triumphs. I couldn’t help but be inspired by him to do great things in life . And when I was too shy to take the first steps , he was the one who not only showed me how, but walked stride for stride with me . He brought me to talent shows throughout the city , and we continued to develop our passions for music . Truly ahead of his time as one of the greatest artists . He burned my first ever instrumental cd that’d we’d freestyle on , that I still have to this day even with some of the tracks skipping . If you stepped foot anywhere in malvern or Scarborough, there’d always be multiple people who would recognize Jason and engage with him, and if I didn’t know who they were, he made it so that they in turn also treated me like a brother. When I think of the family tree of people that came into my life because of him , and the doors they opened for me , it’s a tribute to how Jason lived and loved . I remember going to my first clubs downtown with his cousin star b driving , showing us the shortcuts , the parking spots and how to move . J brought me to stars sunshine record shop , and countless adventures. J could turn the simplest thing like driving around blasting music into the beginning of a story . haven’t seen Sonya or Rochelle in quite some time , but know that the fond memories at school , and on Grayson will live in our hearts forever. And just as J was a brother to you both , do too was he to me and a network of people that had the honour of walking alongside him. It’s tough , but we know Jason would want us to be strong going forward , and pursue or dreams unrelenting. You lit the torch for us ,,, we will continue to to keep it burning until me meet again… Jason the VITAL SOLDIER our brother forever.. love you …

Jason is a real one!! When I think about him I think about being in the moment..I remember just hanging out with him and he will just do a backflip from standing..also his hype on life…we lost contact after high school but I seen him while he was still able to communicate but in a wheel chair. I know it ain’t easy to see someone like this pass away but his life gives me hope and I pray by Gods grace and not grave that I will see him with the Lord!! Grace & Peace to his family!!

Words cannot express how wholeheartedly devastated we are to hear of your heartbreaking loss. Jason spent his days loved, cherished and immaculately cared for. I know this cannot bring him back to you, but I hope you find strength in knowing that you both were such wonderful parents. While it's impossible to find the right words to say, as if there were anything that could possibly temper the anguish that comes after losing a child. Grant unto rest Jason, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he Rest In Peace. Amen. I first met Jason in Grade 9 at MT. I only knew a handful of people but Jason became one of my first friends at MT. Same home room and a lot of the same classes that first year so I was blessed to have Jason as my friend. Kind, friendly, funny, intelligent, athletic, and talented are just some of the words to describe Jason. In my late teens/early 20s I would join Jason, Andrew and Ade to record songs together and I will never forget those sessions. Jason actually gave me my first emcee name around Grade 10/11. Vital Soldier as we called Jason was so gifted with his words and rhymes. Sometimes I’d connect with Jason at the Rec Centre working on music, writing rhymes. As it happens in life you lose touch with those you came up with growing up but I always remembered the impact Jason had on my life while I was trying to navigate through high school in Malvern.
