I met Joe on a job through the millwrights local. We only spoke briefly there because the job was finishing and we were packing up but he made an impression on me that I was hoping to see him again. Fortunately we ended up working for the same company and with Joe, work became fun. He knew how to get the job done and have a laugh while doing it. At one job at Kraft Foods in Cobourg we needed to pull a piece of equipment from the factory down the rail tracks but we had no rail equipment. Before long Joe and his big impala were on the rail track towing the equipment with his car. I can still envision him with his hard hat on smiling away while driving down the rail tracks. He was honest, fun loving and empathetic. He was a lifelong friend that l could count on. My condolences to Bernie, Joesph and families.

Gramps, Watching you fade away broke the little girl inside me. I wish I could hug you, kiss your forehead, feel your hand squeeze mine, and hear you say, “I love you” once more. Though I can’t, I feel you in every lesson, every memory, every moment that shapes who I am. Gramps, your love lives in me. I will carry it forever, cherish it always, and never stop loving you.
