As long as I can remember, I have known Bill. In fact the earliest memory is being at his wedding where he married my mum's best friend, and my Godmother, Marie. And since I never knew my Godfather, (you see, Marie hadn't met him yet), I have always considered that Bill stepped in and happily took on the job. He was a remarkable man, and a walking medical paper on living so long with the afflictions he walked through his life with. I remember my dad went to a stag party and both of them came home stinking.........well, maybe its not the time for telling that story! Bill and my dad had some good times over the years he was there for my dad when my mum died, and he was there to drink the toast at my dad's Homegoing (its an Irish thing) service. Bill gave me a job when I needed one, working at his dry cleaning store, which ended up getting me jobs at other dry cleaning stores over the years, because of the training and experience he gave me.
So now I will drink the toast to him. "May your homegoing be a joyful one". Thanks Bill. Love from Kathleen and the rest of the McQuade clan.
