John Aker’s positivity, generosity, and welcoming nature served as a strong gravitational force to those of us in his orbit. His outgoing and engaging manner could always get people laughing and transport them, even if just for a brief time, away from the distractions and stresses of everyday life. He could relate to people and knew how to put them at ease.
As a father, John was absolutely adored by his daughters and for the best reasons. He was a pillar of strength, a trusted advisor, affectionate and fun. John’s mantras of “life is good” and “this is heaven” were true when John was around.
As a father-in-law, John was kind, interested and welcoming from the start. I loved him for who he was and for the doting Dad he was to Kathryn. John, your passing has evoked a profound sadness in my family and our hearts ache for you. We are going to keep your memory alive in our thoughts and talk about you often. You taught us a lot to remember and we will pass these valuable lessons along to our children.
Our sincere condolences to all of John’s family, friends and former colleagues, especially his loving wife Theresa and their children Krystle, Angela, Michael, Kelly, Clare and Kathryn; sister Joan, grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and good friends David and Char.
Rest in peace John.
