Thomas Chin

The family of Thomas "Shui Kong" Joseph Chin sadly announces his passing on March 9, 2026.  

Born in Jamaica on July 1, 1937, to Ellen and John Chin, Thomas lived a life defined by family, humility, and generosity. He married his beloved wife, Cherry, on February 7, 1960, beginning a lifelong partnership that grew into a legacy of six children.  

In 1975, Thomas and his wife immigrated to Canada with their five children, where they continued building their family and welcomed their youngest child. Thomas was known for his quiet strength and gentle spirit. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including watching sports, playing mahjong and dominoes, and cooking Chinese Jamaican dishes for his family. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy.  

Thomas leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

Visitation will take place at De Stefano Funeral Home (1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa) on Thursday, March 19th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  A funeral Mass will follow at St. Joseph the Worker Parish (1100 Mary Street N, Oshawa) on Friday, March 20th at 10:30 am followed by the burial at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery (7770 Steeles Ave E, Markham).
