Steve passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Age of 72.              

Steve was a devoted husband and best friend of Lorna (Nee Jewell) for 47 wonderful Years.

Steve was a dedicated Father to his much loved Sons Matthew (Teanna) and Jamie (Samantha).  He was a hockey Dad, a Beaver Leader, volunteer for Model Club at the School as well as, many sports along the way.  He was a Proud Papa to Marlee, Dean, Myles and Madelyn.

Steve was the cherished Son of Francis (Frank) Reginald Kenneth Hoar and Anna Teresa (Nee Carey) (Predeceased). Steve was born in Cobourg, Ontario and the family later moved to Oshawa.  He leaves behind much loved Brother Ken (Colleen), Sister MaryAnne (Ted Predeceased), Brother Stan, Brother Frank (Lynette) and Sister Lorraine.

Steve was a wonderful Son-in-law to Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Jewell (Predeceased). Dear Sister-in-law to Carol Bosman and Brother-in-law to Bram Bosman (Predeceased).

Steve will also be missed by many Cousins, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, friends and neighbours.

Steve enjoyed boating with Lorna throughout the Trent Waterway System up to Georgian Bay and as far south as Trenton.   Also, spending weekends and holidays at Steve’s Mother-in-law’s cottage on Sturgeon Lake.

Steve Graduated with a Diploma in Electrical Tech, from Sir Sandford Fleming College, Peterborough, Ontario in 1974.  That same year he was hired at Bell Canada in Oshawa.

 

Steve was a dedicated Bell Canada Employee for 30 Years.  During his career he had many projects and was instrumental in installing the 911 in Oshawa.  He was involved in many Fundraising events, Golf Tournaments and a Member of the Bell Canada Pioneers.  He advanced to Manager of Field Services in the latter years of his career.

A special thank you to all the Nurses and Doctors on the 9th Floor, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their dedication and care.  As well as, the Cancer Centre Team of Nurses and Doctors who provided Steve with excellent care and comfort.  The Palliative Care Nurses and Doctors on 4F who made Steve comfortable and pain free during his final days.

Also, a special thank you to the Abilities Centre in Whitby for their support in the Exercise Program and knowledge they provided to Steve during the past three years. Steve enjoyed the many friendships he made during his classes at the Abilities Centre.

A Celebration of Life will be held at De Stefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa, on Monday, January 27, 2025, with Visitation at 1:00 pm and a Service at 2:00 pm followed by a Reception.

For all that you were to us in life and all the joy you brought, your memory lives in each of us and every single thought.  The pain we felt in losing you will never go away, but knowing that you are in our hearts will support us through each day.  Your presence here on earth will comfort us each day.
