
Obituary of Mwalimu Ali
On Monday, February 10, 2025, “Pastor” Florent Mwalimu Amisi Josué, loving husband, father, and mentor passed away at the age of 62.
Florent was born the youngest of twelve children to Amsi Ali and Sofiani Muasiti in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo. He worked for over fifteen years in the Credit and Insurance business with the RBC Royal Bank of Canada. He had an undying passion for helping others and motivating them to be the best version of themselves and he was able to do that within his field, amongst his colleagues and clients.
As a young child Florent’s family moved to Kinshasa, Republic Democratic of Congo, for post secondary education and job opportunities. He met his wife, Rebecca in 1986 at a youth gathering with mutual friends. In 1993, Florent traveled in Canada in means for a better life. On February 27,1995, Florent and Rebecca got happily married in Toronto, Ontario alongside family and friends.
Florent wore many titles; father, husband, son-in-law, uncle, friend, and, his most well-known title, Shepeard of CCPV Toronto. He began his journey when he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in the Summer of ’88 in Congo, Kinshasa, at the assembly Campriche with Shepeard Papa Damas. In his time under Papa Damas wing, Florent was a dynamic youth ministering as a singer and drummer in the choir, in the prayer intercession and was a part of the evangelism committee. His passion for the Lord continued here in Canada still remaining as a singer in the choir of his respective church and a member of the many prayer circles.
Florent continued to serve in the house of the Lord and was called to preach in church on several Sundays and evangelical events.
At the age of forty-one, Florent was ordained as pastor and had been serving the Lord along his lovely wife until the Lord called him home.
Florent enjoyed preaching the Gospel, playing, and watching all sports from basketball to Ice Hockey. He loved music; singing and dancing for the Lord.
He gave his life as an altar sacrifice for God to use him since 1988 and continued to serve him until his last breath.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca and his 6 children, Cindy-Sofiani, Marc-Henri; Cindy-Sofiani’s spouse, Miky-Noemi, Florent-Henoc, Elysée-Gloria and Shallom-Grace.
He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren; Israel, Adonaiyah,Temani,Doxa and Kevah.
