Obituary of Peter Thomas McLean

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Thomas McLean, who died on July 3, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born in Oshawa on October 15, 1946, Peter was a kind soul with a generous heart, known for his quiet strength, curiosity, and deep care for those around him. He was an avid collector with a keen eye for history and detail, and he found joy in sharing his treasures and stories with others.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, William and Veronica McLean; his beloved daughter, Shannon; his brothers, Billy, Leon, Bobby, and Lorne.

Peter is lovingly remembered by his children, John-Paul, Tara, Aaron and Amy; his brother Jack (Maureen), sister Debbie (Bryce), brother Danny and sister Debra; and his many nieces and nephews, Shaun, Jason (Jamie), Amber (Jason), Cheyenne (Paul), Dylan (Nicole), Jacob (Brittany), Patrick (Alex) and Ashley.

Peter was also a proud great-uncle to many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and he leaves behind a large and cherished circle of grandchildren.

Peter was a quiet helper in his community—someone who gave what he could, when he could, with no expectation of recognition. His kindness and thoughtfulness left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Peter will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A private family gathering will be held in his memory at a later date.
