It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Lt. Colonel Melvyn [Mel] Wesley Bond, beloved husband of Norma Mary [nee Birt] Bond for the past 70 years and son of Charles Thomas Bond and Winnifred Gladys [nee Cooling] Bond of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, on July 8, 2025 in his 92nd year.

A career officer of The Salvation Army, Lt. Colonel Melvyn Bond, with his dear wife, Norma, served with distinction for forty plus years in several appointments across Canada and the United Kingdom.

Lt. Colonel Melvyn Bond is survived by: his wife, Norma; daughter, Faith-Anne [Chris]; son, Mel [Jen]; grandchildren, Nicole; Jenna; Matthew; Michael; Charles; Jackson; and Abigail; great-grandchildren, Grayson; Ariel; and Ella; by sisters, Janice [George]; Sharon; Rose; and General Linda Bond. He is predeceased by: sisters, Erva; Audrey; Eunice; and brothers, Byron; Blenus; and Gerald.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Salvation Army, Oshawa Temple.
