"Allow the light and the healing presence of Christ to shine brightly though your lives. In that way, all those who come in contact with you will discover the loving kindness of God."

St. John Paul II

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Ivan Agustin Lee Sang, on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 15, 1936, in Port Antonio, Jamaica, Ivan Lee Sang was the son of the late Elliot Lee Sang and Violet Phang.

Ivan had a lifelong passion for learning and helping people as a compassionate and respected physician. He earned his medical degree from London University as an External student of the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. He was a well-respected and beloved practitioner practicing in Port Antonio, Jamaica, in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, in Pleasanton, Texas, USA, in Houston, Texas, USA, and in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. Everywhere he went, he touched the lives of his patients, co-workers, friends, and family with his compassion and humanity. He had a tireless work ethic, and his commitment to and love of medicine touched many people, especially his own children. He was known as a "doctor of the old school," for whom medical work was a duty and virtue, often answering calls at all hours to care for his patients, and this vocation to serve those in need profoundly affected his patients’ lives for over 50 years.

Beyond his professional life, Ivan Lee Sang was a devout Catholic and deeply religious family man. He met his beloved wife, Heather Lee Sang, while in medical school. They were married for 66 loving years and together they built a home filled with love and support. He was a loving father to Katherine, Bridget, Jerome and John Lee Sang, a cherished grandfather to Jeffrey Lee Sang, Sean MacTaggart, Heather, MacTaggart, Tabitha Garcia, Bridget Lopez, Brandon Kruse, Rachel Woodbury, Sarah Lee Sang, Michael Lee Sang, Ethan Kruse, William Lee Sang, & Malcolm Kruse, and a devoted great-grandfather to Clark Lee Sang, Bruce Lee Sang, Sam Kruse, Inara Woodbury, Lily Lopez, Anya Garcia, and James Woodbury.

His wisdom, kindness, gentle spirit, and jokes will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was always happy to talk to anyone, and he could not refuse a good bridge game, a great fishing trip, or a chance to go to mass. The lifelong friendships created in these moments will never be forgotten.

Dr. Ivan Lee Sang was preceded in death by his siblings Adlyn (Grant), Doris (Chin), Mable (Tsang), Cynthia (Chin), Wilson (Lee Sang), Vincent (Lee Sang), & Clement (Lee Sang), and his son, Timothy Lee Sang.
