Obituary of John Brittain

December 31, 1932 – November 4, 2025

John Ross Brittain passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on December 31, 1932, John spent most of his life in Gobles, Ontario, before settling in the Oshawa area in 2013.

John was a man of quiet generosity and enduring curiosity. He loved watching the news, admiring classic cars, and exploring Canada and the United States by road. He had a deep affection for animals and a lifelong habit of helping others—never hesitating to lend a hand, offer advice, or simply show up when someone needed him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne Brittain; daughter Kelly Smith (Brittain); sons Jack, Larry, and Dave. John was a proud grandfather to seven and a great-grandfather to five—with one more expected any day. He was predeceased by his daughter Judy Brown (Brittain).

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 19th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at De Stefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. Interment will take place at approximately 2:00 pm on November 24, 2025, at the Princeton Ontario Cemetery.
