Obituary of David McClinton
David Martin McClinton (Dave) ended his fight with Parkinson's at the age of 78 on January 11, 2025. The faithful husband of the late Louise McClinton and the devoted and loving father of Kelly (husband Graeme) Ewing, Daryl McClinton, and Karen McClinton. Adored and cherished Grandfather to Sophie and Liam Ewing.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, Elsie (Burwell) and James McClinton and was very proud of his UK heritage. He will be remembered for his child-like sense of fun, dedication to his family, resilience, and strong work ethic. He provided for his family and enjoyed managing the business and operational side of his career, and balanced that with an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
Dave loved to laugh, talk about politics and current events, and stayed active by playing any sport or game, whenever he could. He enjoyed cottages, swimming to the other side of the lake, fishing, and family walks through Heber Downs. Dave often reminded us of Harrison Ford, with a familiar smirk and a cheeky sense of humour. He loved to indulge, especially when it came to chocolate, which was always his sweet of choice. Hockey was a lifelong passion, and his devotion to the Toronto Maple Leafs never wavered, always optimistic that one day they would finally hold that Stanley Cup again! Music brought him joy, from Neil Diamond to Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra, and he couldn’t resist snapping along to the rhythm. He sang with full heart, convinced the world was missing out on a truly remarkable voice.
We want to thank you, Dad, for your strength and determination; for being one of the biggest kids we’ve ever known. We will keep your playful spirit alive in everything we do.
