Obituary of Sonia James
Sonia Evangeline James was born on September 16, 1951, in Perth Town, Trelawny, Jamaica, to Lileth Pamela Evangeline James (née Peddie) and Oswald Phillip James Sr. She was the fourth daughter in her family and elder sister to two younger brothers.
Sonia attended Belleview Primary School, where she excelled academically and was a top student. Following the passing of her father in 1959, she relocated to Toronto, Canada, in the early 1960s to reunite with her mother. Sonia attended Central Commerce High School and went on to study at the University of Toronto, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology. In the 1980s, she welcomed her beloved daughter, Crystal-Claire Evangeline, whom she adored.
Known for her impeccable style, sophistication, and leadership skills, Sonia also enjoyed travelling, fashion, dressmaking, listening to music, and gardening. Her infectious laughter and vibrant presence brightened every room she entered.
Sonia is deeply missed by her entire family and close friends. She is survived by her daughter, Crystal-Claire, her sister Jaqueline, and her brother Phillip.
