Obituary of Stanley Thomas Abbott
Stanley Thomas Abbott, 79, of Oshawa, passed away on June 4, 2026 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a difficult battle with cancer. Thank you to the C6 staff, CCU nurses, Dr. Li and especially to Dr. El Mallah who supported us through Stan’s illness.
Stan was predeceased by his parents Tom and Mary and his brother Larry and his brother-in-law, David. He is survived by his wife Lidia, his sisters-in-law; Irma Stanic, Rosemary Woods (Brian), Mary Ann Thompson, Carla Keel (Bill), his nephews Tyler Keel (Valerie)(Malcolm-great nephew), Brandon Keel (Rachele), Ben Thompson and Stephen Thompson and his lifelong best friend John Johnston (Doreen).
Stan retired in 2000 after 35 years as a tool and die machinist at General Motors of Canada. While retired, Stan had more time to pursue his love of golf and travel. Stan remained an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens right into their run for the cup this year.
A private grave side gathering will be held at a date and time to be determined.
