Obituary of Lemuel Gates

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lemuel Harold Gates on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the age of 77.

Lemuel was the beloved husband and best friend of Linda Gates (née Willis) for 57 wonderful years. Together they built a loving family that was the center of his life. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Roxanne Barima-Twum (Kwame), and his son, Darren Gates. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Darius and Kaden Barima-Twum, and Olivia and Layla Gates, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

He will be deeply missed by his sisters, Viola Grant (Ronald), Betty-Lou Guy (Sam), and Hilda Rideout (predeceased) (Gary), and his brother, Otto Gates. Lemuel was predeceased by his beloved parents.

Lemuel treasured every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he found great joy in worshipping and serving God. He was known for his kind heart, steady hands, and willingness to help others. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his workshop, where his passion for carpentry allowed him to create and repair with skill and care. He also loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting, finding peace in nature.

Lemuel will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to his family, his generous spirit, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be cherished, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
