Obituary of Gabriela Wiewiora

Gabriela (Ela) Wiewiora of Oshawa ON, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on August 9th at the age of 73.

Ela was born and grew up in Wroclaw Poland, marrying Andrzej and starting a family there. The family immigrated to Canada in 1990 and built a life in Oshawa. Ela devoted her life to her family and lived a life of service to those around her. After retiring from Durham College, Ela continued to work at General Sikorski hall as a member of the Ladie’s Auxiliary. Family and community were at the heart of everything Ela did. She was an avid baker and was happiest when those around her were enjoying her treats, especially her famous apple cake.

Ela was also a proud grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren during her yearly trips to Vancouver and while in Oshawa. Ela is predeceased by her sister Krystyna and her parents Bronislawa and Stefan. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Andrzej, her children Agnieszka (Michal), Sebastian (Angela), grandchildren Kamil, Tessa, Oskar, Abbie and Clare, her brother Mirek (Urszula), nieces, nephews and cherished friends. She will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held at De Stefano Funeral Home (1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa) on Wednesday, August 12th from 5:00pm – 8:00pm followed by a Funeral Mass at St Hedwig's Catholic Church (411 Olive Avenue, Oshawa) on Friday, August 14th at 11:00 am. Interment will take place afterward at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby.
