Obituary of Gordon McLarty
It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Gordon Newton McLarty of Whitby on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
Gordon (a.k.a. Teddy or granddad) was born in Port Royal Jamaica on January 20, 1926, to Ralph and Minerva McLarty. He immigrated to England at an early age where he joined the British air forces and later moved to Montreal and then Toronto.
Granddad is survived by his wife Millicent (a.k.a. Millie or Nana) of 75 years and his brother Alfred McLarty. He also leaves behind four children Greg, Angela, Tony and Ricky; nine grandchildren Gary, Tasha, Trina, Keon, Kamika, Vanessa, Nathaniel, Candace and Elijah; 14 great-grands and three great great-grands. He was a father, grandfather and great grandfather to many others as well.
Granddad was a sheet worker for many years. He had a green thumb and a passion for gardening and was proud to show and share his produce with family and friends. He loved jazz music, sketching, golf, reading the paper and watching the Cooking Channel. He had a sharp mind and could discuss and give his opinion on any subject. Granddad loved and enjoyed the company of his family, especially his grandkids. Most importantly he was a man of faith who will always be loved and was a blessing to many. We will miss you tremendously. Rest in the loving arms of our Lord.
