Obituary of Kenneth Thomas Sharman
Kenneth Sharman, 1928-2022
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Ken. His mother, a cricket fan, would have said that at age 94, he’d had a good innings.
He was born in Brighton and as a boy, played cricket, football, and tennis. He took up boxing as a teen, and at 6’4” with a long reach, he was a natural. He was an accomplished pianist. He trained at Brighton Technical College as a mechanical engineer and a draftsman. Ken loved to go dancing with his friends, and that’s where he met the charming Rita, whom he married in 1951. They were enticed to emigrate to Canada so that Ken could help establish Precision Valve (Canada) Ltd. in 1966, where he worked for almost three decades. The couple settled in Ajax with their young daughter, Linda. Ken and Rita loved to travel and enjoyed an active lifestyle until Rita’s passing in 1997. In 2009, Ken moved to Mississauga to marry the lovely Barbara, who passed away five short weeks ago.
Ken loved being a grandfather and doted on his only grandson, Kent, with whom he shared his love of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ken will be remembered as kindly and generous — a true gentleman — with a great sense of humour and always a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed.
Linda, Kent and Elizabeth wish to offer their sincere thanks to his care team at Ajax-Pickering Hospital.
