There is great sadness today learning of Mari-Lynn's passing. To the family: I am so sorry for your loss. We met in high school and while I hadn't seen her since, she stayed in my thoughts and prayers all these years. She stood out as a kind, sincere friend who definitely had a positive impact on my life.

My dear cousin Mari-Lynn, I first met you when you were only a few months old and I was ten. As family members, we came together for holidays and other gatherings over the years but didn't see each other often. Your spark and kindness humbled me and made me happy whenever I saw you or read your posts on Facebook. This past weekend you brought us together to celebrate your life, and you did it again - you made me smile (and cry a bit, too), and I was humbled to be in your presence. Thank you for your special gift of joy and thoughtfulness, Mari-Lynn. And thank you, too, Noel - for spending time with us yesterday and making us laugh. I know why you meant everything to Mari-Lynn, and I hope we will laugh together again.

We were very saddened to hear of Mari-Lynn’s passing.
We first met when Mari-Lynn was a grade seven and eight student at Frenchman’s Bay. A few years later our paths crossed again when she was practice teaching at Valley Farm and again later when she joined the staff. Our friendship grew.
Mari-Lynn was always very well organized and patient as a pupil and a teacher. She was creative and had a positive approach to learning and teaching. These fine qualities along with her family and the unfaltering support from her husband allowed her to persevere through her life’s challenges coping with MS. Her strong mind and determination enabled her to adapt to changes and made her one, brave soul and mentor to others.
Her friends and loved ones must be very proud of her valiant efforts. The memory of her lovely smile will brighten our days to come.

Mari-Lynn was special. She was always an educator and a fighter. MS focused her attention to fight for her right to participate, belong and be seen. She fought for others' rights, whether it was accessibility, or medical care. She taught us that no matter how weak a body gets the mind is strong. She also would see obstacles as annoying and work to get around them. Noel by her side as her biggest support. We enjoyed many trips and special occasions together. We also enjoyed the quiet get togethers for food, laughs and deep discussions. She made us feel welcomed and cared for. We will miss her laughter, her point of view and her ability to be inclusive of friends and family. Noel we are deeply sorry for your loss. She has left footprints on our heart.

Mari-Lynn was a teaching colleague of mine as well as my son’s grade three teacher. We both remember her as a kind, caring person, who brought the best out in her students and made extra efforts to create wonderful learning experiences for her students. I only knew Mari-Lynn for only a short time when she was volunteering with the MS peer support program and only talked with her over the phone. I immediately knew after our first talk she was someone who genuinely cared about others. When we talked briefly about happier things in life she spoke so fondly of all her family, especially her beloved husband Noel. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. My condolences to all her family. Rest In Peace Mari-Lynn.

It is with profound sadness that I heard of Mari-Lynn’s passing. I only met Mari-Lynn once on her wedding day. A teenager in those days, I remember thinking how she radiated such kindness, compassion, a beautiful smile which remained seeded in my memory even though we never crossed paths again. From time to time, I heard about her challenges and admired her strength as well as the deep love she had for her husband, my great cousin Noel. I once again admire her strength and courage. Noel and Mari-Lynn are two of my closest friends. I have had many happy get togethers with them - birthdays, Christmases and others. We have shared a lot over the years. They’ve always been there for me. We’ve laughed a lot together. Mari- Lynn was a close friend, a confidante and a partner in my battle with MS. She was usually the first person I would talk to when I had news to give. She was always there for me. She inspired me. We shared our experiences with the Wahls diet and with MS in general. She was a constant, positive force in my life for 17 years. She added a lot to my life and she will be greatly missed. Noel and the family, you have my deepest condolences.
