I learned so much working with Rachell at Kinark. She was a fierce advocate for children and families and had a remarkable passion for bettering the lives of our clients as well as the systems of help available. Even more so than admiring her professional abilities, I admired the kind, supportive, and encouraging person she was to all of the staff. Rachell brought the sunshine with her in every room. My sincere condolences Tony & Natasha. There was never more sunshine than when she talked about the two of you.

I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to Tony and Natasha as well as her mom Connie, and siblings Joyce, Kim, Shawn and the entire extended family. Growing up in Port Hope there are few childhood memories that don’t include our neighbours, the Skinner family. Whether it was the kids in the backyard playing Red Light Green Light or going to the movies at midnight to watch Purple Rain with our moms, Rachell and I spent countless days together during our childhood. Catching up with her at her brothers wedding last year is a memory I will keep close. Seeing her smile and enjoying the day knowing all she was facing showed her resilience and desire to enjoy life everyday. Natasha and Tony may the love she had for you carry you as you face the difficult days and weeks ahead.

Rachell was my Supervisor, for a short time, at Aisling Discoveries Child and Family Centre in Toronto. She was always willing to listen, problem solve and provide support no matter how difficult the challenge.
I will always remember Rachell’s passion for the well-being of children and their families. She was a woman of action who made a significant difference in the lives of others.
Rachell was well known for her positive outlook on life. Her happiness and big cheerful smile was truly contagious.
She will be missed but never forgotten.

To the entire family of Rachell my heart breaks for you. Please accept my most sincere condolences. I was extremely saddened to hear this news. Rachell was a very rare and special human. She was my very first supervisor as I started my journey as a Social Worker at Kinark on the 0-6 team and I could have not been any more lucky to have met her. I always compare jobs to that one because I think SHE was a large part of what made my experience there so memorable. Right away she had a light to her, it was unique and special. She was compassionate, caring, understanding, smart, funny and had a way to make everyone feel seen. You wanted to come to work, you wanted to do your best, and she inspired everyone on her team because she was so passionate about infant/children's mental health. I looked forward to every conversation I had with her, and every supervision. She had the most infectious laugh and I will never forget her preaching good self care in this field, that we as clinicians always need to look out for ourselves so we can give the best care to our clients. I wish I could have sat down with her and told her all of these things but here it is, more than evident how she left an impact on likely everyone she met. I was only at Kinark for a one year contract but I will never forget her. To the family... as you grieve please find strength in that she is always with you as she IS a part of you. She WILL live on forever through you. She will be so missed by all. I will never forget her, may her memory be eternal.

It is with much sadness that I write this. I met Rachell Nov 1 2000 when we both began our employment at Kinark in Whitby.
Rachell was easy going, amiable, and a true inspiration during my time working together.
Rachell was committed to her work and inspired those under her Supervision.
We wanted to be the best we could be because we wanted to develop our professional skills for Rachell.
I have so many many memories of Rachell who became not just a colleague but also a friend.
Rachell was a memorable fiend always ready firxa good laugh always ready to listen to a good story always ready to provide support in a crisis
I will forever be grateful to havre met and known Rachell.
Her infinite inspiration and acceptance for everyone and everything I can hopefully continue the same.
RACHELL you will forever be remembered and missed.

I found out tonight that Rachel passed! I’m flabbergasted! I remember Rachel

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Rachell. Working with her at Kinark was a true honour. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the encouragement and support she gave me both professionally and personally. Her laugh, hugs, and wisdom were always appreciated by everyone around the office. Her passion for helping children and their families was admirable. But it was her absolute love for her dear Tony and Tasha that was most apparent. The joy in her face when she would talk about her time with her family was priceless. I feel so lucky to have had her in my life for a short time. I’m sending all of my love and strength to Tony, Natasha, and her entire family as they navigate through this awful time.
