Grace and I worked together at Gertrude Colpus P.S. back in 1980 - 86. Grace was an inspiring teacher. She challenged her students to be the best they could be!
Grace also challenged me to look outside the box and be aware of the needs of others - especially women. Grace was the person who brought the 'feminist' movement to me and helped me to work positively towards real improvement for women in all walks of life.
I thank you Grace for all of those insights you shared with me.
My deepest condolences to all of the family.
Sincerely,
Gail

Grace embraced life at every turn. Her thirst for learning was matched by her sense of adventure. Nowhere was this so evident as when we traveled together to Iceland. She was up for all of it. She never missed a chance to dance, was warm, kind and so much fun. I am so very lucky to have known her.

My dear Aunt Grace, so full of life and love until her final moments, was my hero. She was unafraid to buck the trend, to fight the noble fight, to point the way to the true and good. A social scientist, she bravely experimented with her life until she found the most profound truth in the miracle life is. She was a boon to our entire culture and her good influence will be missed.

I was saddened and shocked to hear of Grace's passing. She was a unique woman who was the hero of her own life. We worked together at the Rape Crisis Center and Women's Movement in the early 1980s. She is an unforgettable woman!

Grace and I taught together at Mary Street Community school. She was a great teacher, an interesting, multi -talented person and a pleasure to work with. Grace brought with her an abundance of wisdom, kindness warmth and kept everyone engaged with her wicked sense of humour. She was a valued support for both the students and staff, one of those rare colleagues who made it such fun to be at school!

I will surely miss my dear, sweet friend Grace. She was my friend for over a period of 20 years.
Gracie welcomed me into her life when I first moved to this area and I was so very grateful for her presence in my life.
Many people will miss this wonder of a woman.
She had wonderful and unique attributes not least of which was a great sense of humour, a forgiving nature, tons of energy, a strong sense of purpose, a keen sense of learning and lots of good will.
Grace managed to maintain a sense of curiosity and a sense of wonder towards the world around her. She loved life. She was a seeker of wisdom. Her spiritual beliefs were grounded in kindness, forgiveness and love.
Grace was passionate about music.…. especially, but not limited to, jazz. Often, we would travel to Port Perry, Markham and Oshawa to hear jazz groups play. We would also meet up at various places to hear choirs and solo violinists and pianists, folk singers, bluegrass music and folk festivals. Almost everywhere we went Grace knew somebody. I think this may be in part because Grace had so many interests. Her most recent activities ranged from hiking to playing in a band to singing in a choir to taking part in community events. Remember when I said she was energetic?
Last but not least I must say …..
Grace loved her family dearly. She was so proud of her children and her grandchildren.
My heart holds them close as they grieve the loss of their mom and grandmother… truly and in honour.

Memories of trips to Stratford - long days; camping at Mariposa Folk Festival - finding the perfect spot to set up our tents in the 'tents only' section and waking up to find ourselves surrounded by RVs; leaving early on Saturday night trips to Greenbank to get a good seat at the folk concerts; DSP plays; Grace coming with Ewanna to help set up my Christmas tree when I broke my ankle; walks up Leskard Road and through Enniskillen during COVID; Grace's joy in her children and grandchildren and so much more. I will miss her.

When I was in grade 3, Grace was with this group called big brothers and sisters, and she came to me and every Thursday for the next about six years the first day I met Grace we just sat and we talked and she was very kind to me and she said now how would you like for me to come see you every Thursday and I said I would love that and she asked me what’s your favourite fruit and I said grapes and she said OK well I’ll bring you grapes every Thursday then and I knew right then that she was just an amazing person and she was an amazing friend to me through the time that I did get to see her but I moved away before I finish school, so I ended up not being able to see her anymore and that definitely made me very sad but she was a beautiful soul, a caring woman, and a very dear friend me and I wish I could’ve at least talk to her one more time, but I’ll always cherish her memory.

It was so nice to see Grace after so many years...I shared some time with her this summer when I installed a new front door at her house in Hampton. After not seeing her for about 37 years it was nice to reconnect...I lived next door to the Moores family on Fernhill Blvd for 20 years...Lots of great memories there. Sending condolences to Mark, Monica, Jason and family. From the Woods family. Kevin, Jeff, Doug, Jackie, and my late Dad Fred. RIP Grace and thanks for the hug.
