Ian was a good man and a great union man. He dedicated a lot of his time to better the lives of ALL working people.
When he was a BA and I was a steward he helped me with any issues I had and always came to the job if need be. (So did his brother Walter)
I’m sorry I didn’t get to pay my respect at the funeral but I was out of town at the time.
He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. My condolences to his family.

Heaven has gained another legend in my Uncle Ian this week and the silver linning, however painful for those left in mourning, is that he'll be reunited with his wife Aunt Mary. I thought the world of you Uncle Ian, I could always count on a wee chat online mostly about football or family and cherished them very much. As great as the loss is and will be felt by those whose paths you've crossed, your love and legacy lives on in your children & and their children alike and your impact on the world will be spoke about at tables you'll never again sit at for years and years to come.
One of the most vivid and fond memories I have of you, my dad and the squad of weans crammed into the living room in Gran's was during Italia '90 World Cup. I mostly remember the noise generated from us all and the mix of laughter, shouting, kids fighting...all the good stuff really. All our love, Caroline & Les.x

It's hard to know what to say about Uncle Ian. He was such a fantastic, hospitable, welcoming, warm and friendly man.
When we visited Toronto for Tracy and Eric's wedding, like the rest of the family he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and involved.
Not only did he offer room and board, taxi service and tourist guide but he included us on his trip to Niagara Falls and helped us form memories that will last a lifetime.
Sorely missed and fondly remembered.

We are so deeply saddened by Uncle Ian’s passing and send all our love and condolences to our dear cousins Tracy, Colin, Suzanne, Mary and their families. It is so difficult to find the words, and so hard to believe Ian’s gone. There is 13 years between Ian and I, and I still remember the day my baby brother was born in our house at 429 Dobbie’s Loan in Glasgow! I am so very proud of the fine, wonderful man he became. He built a beautiful life with his beloved wife Mary, his four beautiful kids, and grandchildren. I feel fortunate and forever grateful we were able to spend some quality time together over the past weeks and months, especially when we would go to the wee Bingo, which turns out, Ian loved to do! I will miss him so much, and send all my love and support to Tracy, Colin, Suzanne, Mary and family.

He was a friend, colleague and mentor to many throughout the Millwright Community and will be remembered for his passion to improve standards and provide a better way of life for our Members.
Ian will be deeply missed, however never forgotten.
