Chuck was one of the friendliest men I ever met. He was an interesting mix of the older generation with its formalities and the upcoming younger generation with its freedoms. We met through a ski club we both attended and he helped me in practical ways during a difficult period in my life -- something I will never forget. We remained friends after this and I enjoyed visiting him in his spotless home and hearing about his latest adventures, talking to him on the phone, and hearing his down to earth views on life, views which always favoured the plight of the underdog. He was an amazing photographer, a talent that did not become fully developed. RIP Chuck and may I see you again some day!

My sincere sympathy to Kristin and Chucks family. Chuck was our nieghbour on Sherwood Ave for 45 years. Always had a wave and hello to all as he seemed to always be working on some engine of some sort. He certainly will be missed on our little street. Rest in peace Chuck.

Mr. Armstrong
Where else could ten year old boys go and enjoy such amazing wallpaper that was hanging on the walls in your garage? Who can forget all the hot rods you had? The z28, the 454 truck, and our favourite the grand national. We loved coming over and watching you work on brewers droop and of course the way you treated the guys. You always made us kids on the street feel like we were always welcomed over even though we were probably in the way. We will never forget you coming over on a hot day jumping in our pool. You and our Dad always listening to Slim Whitman. You were always a gentleman and a neighbour our parents called one of the best neighbours in the world. You will be missed greatly.

I first met Chuck as an apprentice in 1963 at GMC. There is nothing but positive comments that can be made about Chuck - his love of Timmins, trains, skiing, running, family, friends. Chuck's love of speed stayed with him up to the end. From the 1965(?) 409 Chev, his 427 boat, to his current SUV. He is the only person I know that got a speeding ticket in reverse!!!!
Everyone was proud to have Chuck as a friend. We have lost a bundle of talent in many genres. Chuck was very generous of his spare time helping anyone the required another set of hands, knowledge, or just a laugh. We just lost a great friend, father and fun-loving soul.

Chuck was our neighbour for almost 50 years. His daughter Kristen was best friends with our daughter Anna, and grew up as part of the gang on Sherwood Avenue that also included the Dionnes and the Vallieres. Chuck was a great neighbour, always there with a wave or helping hand. We will miss the rumble of his motorcycle or latest GM model with all the upgrades.

It is very sad to lose a dear friend. I was a bus captain for Skibees, and that is where I met these great guys from the Oshawa area. What fun we had with stories and life in general. The music had to be country and especially George Jones. The bus will be different this winter with out Chuck. Fly high Chuck.
Hugs,
Betty Miller

For all the years I knew Charles, he was "Chuck" to us, as no doubt he was to most people. I remember his great love of skiing, motorcycles, racing and definitely trains!! He had a true love of each of those things and his life centred around them. I live in North Carolina, so I mostly saw him when I visited family in Canada. However, the family did make a few trips to North Carolina in the earlier years and I remember we took a ride on a steam engine!! I loved it!!! I also have a love of trains!! More recently, this past year to be precise, I was in an antique/thrift store and saw a beautiful large, scenic picture of an old train and one of my first thoughts was that Chuck would love that picture!! So, Chuck, R.I.P. May the Lord shine his light upon you. Condolences to his daughter, Kristen, Stephen, Malcolm and all his family and friends. He will be missed.
