Obituary of Judith Catherine Morphew

MORPHEW, Judith Catherine “Judy” (nee Rose), RN. COHN(C). ABOHN Suddenly with family by her side on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Rouge Valley-Centenary at the age of 71 years. Judy, beloved wife of 51 years to Richard Morphew. Loving mother of Kerri(Richard Scheel) and Bradley. Loved grandma of Sydney and Ryan. Dear sister of Margaret(the late Don)Race, Patricia(John)Bayly and sister in law of Lois Lapp, Nilajean Cameron and Mary Morphew-Desanto. Judy will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Judy followed her mother into the nursing field and after three years of marriage returned to school to become a Registered Nurse. She graduated from the Sarnia General Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1969-the final class prior to the switching of such programs to Community Colleges). Her graduating class just celebrated its 45th Anniversary in July. After many years of working in hospitals throughout Southern Ontario (Woodstock, Tillsonburg, Guelph), she returned to school to obtain her Occupational Health Nursing Certification both in Canada(COHN)and in the United Sataes(ABOHN). As an Occupational Health Nurse, she was employed with Canadian General Electric and ABB in Guelph, Adtra Pharmaceuticals in Mississauga and Walker Exhausts in Cambridge. Whether working in the hospital or in industry, Judy’s love of her work in providing nursing care was always most important. She was constantly recognized by her many employers over the years. Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa(south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road)905-440-3595 on Sunday, October 5th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Service to Celebrate Judy’s life will be held in the DeStefano Chapel on Monday at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society-Durham Chapter or the Ontario March of Dimes.
