Obituary of Marie Knight
Knight: Marie
Peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday March 23rd, 2024, at the age of 78 years. Beloved mother of Christian (Kristy), and Danielle (Michael). Cherished Mamie of Quinn and Lochlan. Dear sister of Jeannine, Lise, and Gail. Matante to Kevin, Jenny, Vanessa, Chantal and Stéphane. Proud Godmother to Jenny.
Marie was a force of nature that you could not help but be drawn to. A talented singer and performer, she had a successful career traveling the world, performing for audiences big and small. Her shows were broadcast on major television networks, where she often performed with celebrities and public figures. She brought down the house with performances at The O'Keefe Centre (Meridian Hall), Canada's largest performing arts theatre. She was the star of the show both in her career and her home life. Incredibly, she put stardom on the backburner when she became a mother. With two young kids at home, she went back to school to earn her degree, and was soon the Deputy Clerk for the Town of Ajax and then the Municipality of Clarington. She was highly successful in her work endeavors and deeply respected by her colleagues. Her love and attention were always focused on her family and friends; Marie never missed an opportunity to make someone smile. A dedicated mother and grandmother, an incredibly hard worker, an unwavering friend. A lover of gardening, social outings, card games, dancing and bling. She will be remembered for her joie de vivre, her incredible voice, her huge heart, and infectious laugh. Her generosity knew no bounds, and the world was a brighter place with her in it.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her extended family, friends, and those that had the pleasure of knowing her. May we all be thankful for having as much time as we did with this beautiful soul.
Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa on Saturday April 6th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
