I never knew Fran, but I went to school with her spectacular son, Rob. He was such a special person and I hope his mother knew it through all of her life. I hope she's with him again now and glorying in the reacquaintance.

Dear Norm and family,
Sincere condolences on the news of Fran's death. Norm and Fran were wonderful neighbours to have on Shuyler's Island. . . . always friendly and generous whenever they could be. For example,
You allowed one of my nieces to use the shelter of your cottage. She had driven with her boyfriend from Montreal and arrived late one day to be able to support me and attend the next morning's service when my husband Bill Lambie died in April of 2011

Fran and I were colleagues at Macdonald Collegiate for seven years in the 1990s. She was a guidance counsellor greatly respected by staff and the many adult and teenage students with whom she interacted, providing advice on post-secondary education and career possibilities. A few years ago, Fran suggested vacationing in Ajicic Mexico, and finally, this winter, we went there. I checked out the attractions she recommended and thought about her often. Ironically, it was during that month she passed away. My sincerest condolences Norm on your loss. May peace be with you.
Getting to the visitation and service will be difficult because of a previous commitment.

As we keep Norm and your family in our prayers, deeply saddened to learn of Fran’s death, we will be forever grateful for the wonderful times that we have shared. Our days in Mexico would never have been the same without the Smiths. Fran’s wonderful, positive attitude, her love of dancing and winning at Bridge, and her artful ways of being the most gracious of hosts, both in MX and at your gorgeous cottage in Minden, made life more worth the living. Norm, you were the most loving of husbands. And, we believe that one day, Fran will meet you in Heaven with arms outstretched and swaying to the music. Ready for that eternal dance. Thank you for a beautiful friendship, Fran and Norm.

Remembering Fran fondly from Mac as a dear colleague and friend. Her genuine heart, kindness and compassion made her a wonderful educator who lit up the classroom with her smile and care. Sending deepest condolences to Norm and family.

Fran was a valued colleague and friend in the Guidance department at Sir John A.MacDonald C.I. during the years I served as counselor and department head. She was an energetic and caring counselor both to adult and adolescent students. Although it has been many years since we worked together, I remember her with fondness and now sadness at her passing. My thoughts go out to Norm and the family at this time.
