Dear Teresa, Joelle, Daniel, and Julian,
I am so sorry for the loss of our dear cousin Gioseph. Joe was a larger than life figure in our lives, a legend for us growing up. I remember how much everyone in our family looked up to him and how kind and generous he always us. I remember especially every Christmas the visit you would always make to Zio Frank's in Niagara Falls, we always looked forward to seeing you all. Cousin Joe was always someone we wanted to be like, and we are all sad to hear of his passing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and we will always remember him.
Love,
Marco Vetrone and Family

I’ll always appreciate how Zio Gio pushed me to live a well-rounded life by his three tenets: strong mind, strong body, strong soul. I’ll continue to live by those words, and follow in his example.
My love goes out to Zia Teresa, Joelle, Daniel, and Julian. You’re in my thoughts.

Teresa and Family, I'm so sorry for your loss, it happened far too soon and he will be missed by many. I had the pleasure of working closely with Gio over the last 5 years and his impact on myself and so many others through his intelligence, passion, and dry wit can't be overstated. There have been many conversations and memories shared this week as everyone seems to have a favourite Gio story. Through the shared memories there has been such a common thread of how much be valued and loved his family. Although he may no longer be with all of us and he will be missed so much, he leaves such a legacy through his family and impacts on others. -My condolences, Andrew

Gio was a man of strength, courage, character, and resolve. His very successful military life, professional life, and family life were results of those things. Gio was much more then a brother in law to me. He was a trusted friend and mentor. He helped me through some dark times in my life…. His superpower was the ability to have a calming effect through his logical Stoic reasoning. Even throughout his incredibly courageous battle with his illness, he did not waver in this. Gio will be missed fiercely, and remembered always.

It is times like this that force us to take a deep breath and slow down, when we heard of Uncle Joes passing, I can't explain the profound sense of emptiness we felt. We will always remember the many childhood adventures he took us on never to be forgotten. Uncle Joe always made time for us and kept us laughing, usually at our own expense. This was a skill that he had truly mastered! Our memories go far beyond childhood! It wasn't until we were older that we truly appreciate his personality and ability to light up a room. Uncle Joe I could spend all day talking about how every kid should have an Uncle like you in their life, but that wouldn't be realistic because there is only one of you and God blessed all of us by bringing you into our lives. You will never be forgotten you have impacted all of us in so many ways that with every day we face in the days to come there will always be a smile or smirk and you will be the reason behind it. We don't really say this often but we love you and always will. Thanks for all the beautiful memories!
Rest is Peace Uncle Joe!
Love Always Frank & Carl

I send my sincere condolences to Teresa and family on the passing of Gio. I worked for Gio for 7 years and I always found him to be professional and patient with staff, and was someone who genuinely cared about people. He accomplished so much in his time there. I couldn't have asked for a better manager. He will be missed.

This poem reminds me of Gio's energy; my little big brother showed the truth of his life right to the very end. With love, Frank
Wrestling with an Angel.......
Jacob wrestled with an angel.
This was not some lazy afternoon’s pastime
But a lifetime of encounters.
At first a slight breeze from this
Beings wings
then, as Jacob’s eyes turned beyond the blinders
of the world,
this angel rose from the mists of a vague,
half remembered Heaven
of Rays from which emanates
physical light.
What the story doesn’t say,
Out of kindness
Is that this angel so loved Jacob
That he taunted him
Day and night, night and day
Pulling at his heart
Picking at his liver
“do you love me, Jacob?
Do you love me?
Then prove it
Not to me
But to yourself”
Day and night, night and day
Till Jacob ran
Hear me, he ran
And hurled his life at this angel
And with all his might
Wholly desired that which he
Simply knew he lacked.
Well friend, what be your angel?
And what is your strategy
To wrest the truth of your life
Into your Heart.

It is with sadness I learned of Gio’s passing while camped near Yosemite. He always talked about his travels during our discussions while working at the Region and know he would have appreciated my current adventure. His guidance during my years working with his team will always be remembered fondly.
To Teresa and family, my condolences.

It’s hard to find the words to describe Zio Gio, because he is a man more than any words I could write. He playfully teased us when we were kids — that we believed him and thought we could remove our freckles with tape is something my sister and I still laugh about — he gently comforted me when I was a struggling young adult, and he was someone I always wanted to share my joys with. He was the husband of my beloved Zia Teresa, the father of my cool older cousins, Joelle, Daniel, and Julian, and the proud grandfather to the adorable Benny. He lives on in the ones he’s left behind, and even so, he will be missed so very much. I love you, Zio Gio, and I will love you and remember you always.
Sending all my love to Zia Teresa, Joelle, Daniel, Julian, and little Benny. I am so deeply sorry for your loss: words can’t express how sorry I am that he is gone so soon. You are all in my thoughts, I love you, and I am so very sorry.

Theresa and Family,
I was very saddened to hear of Gio's passing. I had the very distinct pleasure of have him as a friend and a co-worker when he was serving in Ottawa at the ADM(IM) Information Management Group as the Realty Advisor to the Chief Of Staff a job he did superbly and allowed him to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, a promotion richly deserved. A with high moral standards, integrity and above all else caring for his soldiers even me a retired sailor when I was a member of his staff. Gio of instrumental in me receiving the 2007 ADM(IM) NOVA Lifetime Achievement Award - which he presented to me virtually when when Commanding Officer of CFS Alert.
As other has said he was a man of quiet demeanor, well respected by all who served with him - especially myself.
He will be missed.
Colossians 2-5 - For though absent in the flesh he is with us in spirit.
God Bless all of the Annelo Family

I did not have the honour or privilege of meeting Mr. Anello, Gio. I did however, have the opportunity to first work with and soon after befriend his youngest, Julian. To say that Julian is special is an understatement. There is no doubt in my mind that I did in my own way get to know Gio (and Teresa) by way of a great young man named Julian. He is a proud young man who is so positive and so family oriented which no doubt is a byproduct of having wonderful parents. Gio’s legacy will live strong through his wonderful family. To my good friend Julian, thank you so very much for sharing your stories about your family, especially the ones about signor Gio. May his memory live on forever. Mark

Gio was truly a down-to-earth gentleman, always willing to help others. He had the art of being composed and calm in any situation, no matter how stressful it might be. His sense of humour grew stronger than ever in his most difficult of times. Learnt a lot from him, not just technical, but about life and wisdom. A great friend, will be missed immensely….Ramesh

I had the privilege of knowing Gioseph (aka Joe) since our high-school days at NFCVI. The days of high-school were filled with laughter and Joe’s quick wit. Joe always seemed a little more mature than the rest of us and he was the first to have a girlfriend much to our chagrin, although in hind sight she was best thing that happened to him, the girlfriends name was Teresa his future wife. Joe’s quick wit, his sarcasm, his intelligence and his friendship I will miss the most.
To Teresa and his children Joelle, Daniel and Julian my thoughts and prayers.

I had the great privilege of working with Gio on a significant project. He was brilliant, level headed (even in the face of crisis) and had a dry sense of humour I always appreciated. He was a great teacher and colleague. When he retired it was a hard loss to the Region. This is even harder. He will be dearly missed.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Aline
