Dearest auntie.
It is hard to comprehend that you are gone. Our frequent Facebook chats became an integral part of my daily routine and now those words become a memory.
Divided by an ocean but bound by blood, you gave me the love and support only a mother could.
We didn’t meet often, but our last meeting during your trip to England will hold a special place in my heart. I am so glad you got to visit my home. In another lifetime we will visit all of the sights of Windsor you were so eager to see.
I promise to keep Mum close as I know she loves you very much. I also promise to teach Soraya (a.k.a Blondie) all about her wonderful Grandma who loved her from afar.
Rest in peace auntie. One day, when we meet again, we will have lots to talk about.

The memories are endless of our friend for more than 50 years! We had many wonderful times together. She was a great cook (silky parathas) and many other dishes. And she learned some Canadian dishes from me. (turkey) We watch our families grow over the years and maintained a wonderful friendship. They were not friends but family to us. She will be missed forever, what a wonderful and kind person she was! Condolences to Carlyle, all the children and grands, all the family and her many friends. We send our love to the entire family. Despite the distance between Trinidad and Canada, i still kept in contact with my Aunt over the years, whether it be Facebook or Whatsapp. She in turn kept track of the current affairs of her home country & the happenings of her relatives on the island.
One of her fondest memories was the Sisters Reunion in 2017 & 2018. I know this because she told me so. The first reunion (2017) happened on the sister isle of Tobago and they reunited again (2018) at the Thomas on the Beach Resort in Toco, Trinidad. For my aunt, holding family close and maintaining those relationships over the years meant the world to her. Many stories were shared afterwards, the upsides and downsides of both trips. However what stood out the most was my aunt being happy to share those moments with all her sisters, being together in one place. It's something that haven't happened for 10+ years. Speaking on behalf of my mom and my other aunts, i am very sure the feeling is mutual.
It has been a very hard couple of weeks for myself and our families because we lost not one but two roses in our lives. Two sisters who gave their love, joy and happiness which helped mold us into the individuals we are today.
To my dearest Aunt Shairoon, as you journey in your sister's footsteps, i want to thank you for being a major influence on my life. Thank you for your support when my dad passed away years ago. Thank you for your love, guidance and advice through the years, i will always hold them close to my heart. Sleep eternally with your parents and the many who left before us. I hope and pray that i see you again one day.

In shimmering memories, we remember Stef’s mom Aunty Shairoon; as a beacon of warmth who, with her generous spirit contagious optimism, made my family always feel welcomed.
Her love for life and family was always apparent at any of Stef’s events.
We often looked forward her delicious corn soup and inspiring conversations.

Shairoon and I worked at CIBC Intria together and continued to communicate throughout our retirement years on FB. I am honestly deeply saddened at her passing and didn’t think last December at our retirement Xmas lunch would be the last time I see her.
