I had the immense pleasure to meet Darren when we were in the same new hire class at CanJet many years ago. I’ll always remember how he lit up and energized any room with his infectious laugh, positivity and enthusiasm. He was a kind soul and will be greatly missed. Fly high my friend.

Met Darren on our first day at Seneca Aviation class 30 years ago . He was a presence with his baritone voice and self confidence and became one of the most popular guys in class right away We flew together several times and enjoyed chatting about guitars and cars .
Last time I saw Darren in Dubai on his layover in 2019 he was happy enjoying his flying and globetrotting .
Darren was a great aviatior , musician and human being Rest in peace my dear friend

I met Darren while he worked at Mainly Music guitar store. He gave me some guitar lessons.
I was working at Air Canada, he always ask me about the airline and I told him he should be a pilot....A lot of years later as I was walking through terminal at Pearson and a pilot called my name....I didn't recognize him at first. He was a long haired skinny guy now a short hair grey mature pilot.....We had a great laugh! Had a great conversation and kept in touch with him while we both worked for the airline.
This is truly heartbreaking...he was a great laugh with a fantastic sense of humour and will be truly missed!! My condolences to Darren's family. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to Darren's family and friends. I first met Darren when flying together on the EMJ at Air Canada and subsequently had the good fortune to work with him on the negotiating committee. Darren did not shy away from representing his fellow pilots in such a challenging forum as he humbly accepted his leadership role. He shone brightly on our committee and brought intellect, humour, and optimism to the table.
Darren had a storied career, and yet spoke more often of his family. He did indeed live, laugh, and love well and those close to him all the better for it.

I had the immense pleasure of getting to know Darren at Bearskin Airlines, Canjet and Air Canada. He was a joy to be around and had so many great stories - I wish I could hear them all. He always spoke about his dedication to family and to his love Audrey. It was wonderful to watch their adventures and know that they were grabbing life by the horns. I have been thinking of him often and will miss his voice. His dedication to improving working conditions for pilots has left Canadian aviation a better place and I’m so proud to have called him my friend.

As a lifelong friend of Deborah, I actually met Darren for the first time when he was only 7 years old. Every time we crossed paths over the years, Darren was always kind and friendly and completely genuine. One of my fond memories is when I ran into Darren at the concession stand during an Iron Maiden concert. While I was slightly embarrassed that my husband and I had brought our young boys with us, Darren turned it around completely and told me emphatically that bringing our boys to the concert made Mike and I great parents! That memory always makes me smile.
To Darren's family, Mike and I send our deepest sympathy.

I met Darren in 2011, when he had been parachuted into the Negotiating Committee Chair position. It was a very tough job, which ended up in FOS Arbitration. Darren’s integrity, leadership and sense of humour kept the team together. He will be sorely missed…

Hello family and friends of Darren,
My name is Bernie Cox and my wife Lynn and I launched a flying service in Pickle Lake in 1997. Darren was among the first young pilots we hired. Those early days were hectic and fun and Darren was a Godsend to have on our staff. We operated two Beavers then and often pilots spent weeks away from base.
His sense of humour and work ethic made everyone around him rise up to the challenge. Lynn and I extend our deepest condolences. Amazing individuals like Darren serve as proof that God exists and that he loves us.

Thank you for saying that, it's true! I still remember Pickle Lake '97 what an adventure, you guys were great about letting us make great family memories when there was room for a 7 year old to jump on a couple legs or for us to get some remote fishing in. I still have a great photo somewhere of my brother and I in one of your Beaver's cockpits, both wearing the company ball caps. One of my best buddies flys the Bassler out of Pickle under your old flag.

Darren and I started our careers together as Beaver pilots at North Star Air. We bickered, flew planes, drank beer and played guitar for a while before going our separate ways. He was one of my first real colleagues and I liked him very much.
So long, Captain Francisco. I always thought I would see you again.

I read the messages of his co workers and they couldn’t have been more accurate in describing Darren and his unique character. Darren will always be remembered as the truly great, loving, caring and inspirational person that he was. I’ve always admired how he took care of the people he loved and loved him. I will miss you very dearly. I will always cherish getting to know Darren and most importantly him calling me his friend. RIP big guy ! I am very saddened that we lost a beautiful man.

Growing up with Darren was quite a memorable journey. Always the gentleman, with a multitude of entertaining stories to share.
Through thick and thin, some challenges, and good times, we have remained close friends for 40 years. Our families were very fond of each other, and held the bonds of true friendship throughout the years. I remember celebrating many a holiday together, and there was always laughter a plenty, usually caused by Darren and his Grandfather trying to outshine each other.
I will miss you my dear friend, and I will carry my memories forward, and share them with your family when we get together, once again, to celebrate your life.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to Jennifer, Deb, Taren, Tyler and Audrey. I wish you all the strength you require to get through the coming days, weeks and months. There are no words to offer you comfort in your time of loss, so I will simply wish you all love, and light and hope that in time, you remember the good times you shared with him.
Rest in peace, Darren.
I love you my friend.

I met Darren 30 years ago at Seneca. Being more experienced in life, Darren naturally took the role as one of our leaders. Over the years our group has remained lifelong friends and we chat regularly. Our career paths started out on different roads but eventually we joined up again at Air Canada where once again Darren would be a leader to us. I will miss his wisdom, his guidance and most importantly his sense of humour. Mike and I send our deepest condolences to Audrey and the kids.
