To Maureen, Lori, Wendy and family:
A beautifully, moving service yesterday, honouring Norm: evoking his pure love, loyalty and steadfastness that he had for his family and friends; his unwavering, enduring grace; and a joyous love of life, steeped in solid traditions that nourished, sustained- and will endure. Quintessential Norm. His indelible legacy forever imprinted on us all…

Sadly! With a few tears Willi and I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to you and to your precious family. Norm celebrated Friday his graduation from this old world to heaven surrounded by all those who have gone on before him. (I can picture him now playing his bagpipes “Amazing Grace” before the King of Kings and the crowd of witnesses. ) what Glory!!!
Norm was a man of courage with an inner strength, equipped in God to face whatever challenges was coming next, he did so with his awesome sense of humor which was quite admirable, there is no doubt he will be terribly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. No one will miss him more than his family, as a dad, as a grandfather and a husband to you dear Maureen, he was your best friend, lover and confidant, together you were a very special engaging couple, a testimony to us all.
The scripture declares: “ In everything there is a time and a season to laugh and to cry.”
We pray Maureen the Lord will be your strength, your comfort and minister to you his shalom as only He can. “He says my grace is sufficient for you in your weakness I will make you strong.” He will see you ALL through.
Baruch ha-Shem,
With all our Love and prayers,
Jill and Willi

No tribute would be complete without me saying how much I admire you and
your ( and Maureens ) achievements and the legacy you will leave.
From your humble beginnings in Glasgow ( not as humble as my own
upbringing in Dublin mind LOL ), you went on to become a most competent
tradesman and then worked so hard to extend your academic education to
ensure you were able to reach the dizzy heights you attained.
Your influence on the education and personal development of so many young
people, both in Canada as well as many other countries is an achievement you
should be immensely proud of !
Dare I say the world will be a poorer place without you and I don’t regret a
single moment of the time we spent together, I just wish we had more time
together

Dear Maureen
Pat passed on the sad news to me about Norman's passing. So sorry for your loss. He was such a brave man to endure all the discomfort and painful treatments this horrible disease brings. It will have given him great comfort to know you were by his side all the way, giving him the love and support to help him through his journey.
I have a good idea of what the future days, weeks and months will be like for you and the family as you come to terms with your grief, you are especially in my thoughts.
I'm attaching this lovely photo of Norman serenading us with his bag pipes in the evening sunshine, when we were together for that week in Carlisle, before A&F wedding. He was a lovely man, he will be sadly missed by so many.
Take care of yourself.
Love and thoughts.

HI Maureen,
(((((((((( HUG ))))))))))
Just a quick note to let you know you are being thought of.
I am so sorry to hear that you have had to bid farewell to your long time best friend and heart of hearts, Norm.
There are no words to fill that void or numbness, however, please be kind to yourself in the coming days and weeks. Don't be afraid to put your hand up for help, don't turn away hands that are offered to help and above all else don't be afraid to acknowledge your grief to yourself. If there is anything I can do, even if it's just being "here" on the other side of the world to listen to you, please just holler.
May you and your entire family be surrounded with happy memories and the warmth and love of a wonderful man.
Kia kaha.
Loads of love,

Maureen and Family
My sincere condolences to each of you.
Remembrances of Norm. When I first went to York Humber in the fall of 1975 Norman had moved to Frank Oka but the legacy he left in the Technical Department as a teacher and Assisted Head to Mark Smalley was evident in many stories that circulated. Later when Norman returned as Principal the school was in the midst of declining adolescent enrollment, and an adult enrollment that changed daily, the building closing and a new building under construction. Not an easy time to maintain a positive atmosphere but during those though challenges Norman presented me with a number of educational opportunities that I have put into place many time during the remaining years of my teaching career. There were also many enjoyable times and laughs that Norman and I shared during our time together in the Temporary Facility. A great Man!
I will be thinking of you throughout this difficult time.
Blessings to each of you as time progress

Thank you for sharing him and supporting him so well all these years, travelling with him to band functions and on band trips.

How we cherish the memories of our trips together and hearing the tales and seeing pictures of your many trips abroad. Norman lived every precious moment with zeal; loved you, Maureen, his life’s partner, and his family, of whom he was so proud. He recognized life as a gift and lived it well. Although loss of strength overtook him, he still fought to cling to life until it escaped him. These memories will endure and we pray, will provide comfort to you and the family.

Dear Maureen, Wendy and Lori,
So saddened with the death of Norm, a journey bravely fought.
We vividly remember Nairobi, Kenya when in 1980 as the then Chieftain of the Caledonian Society, I (Eric) received a telephone call from Norm in a Canadian/Glaswegian accent requested membership and offered his services a piper. So started over 36 years of friendship visiting each other in our respective countries of residence during that period and enjoying cruises together including Norm and Maureen's 50th wedding anniversary cruise.
Norm took great interest in our son's Andrew's progress as a piper and honoured the Pryde family as Piper at Andrew and Fiona's wedding in 2000.
Whilst we, unfortunately, are unable to be in Toronto on 1st February, we shall pray in silence and offer a wee dram to our departed friend.
Love Eric, Pat, Andrew, Fiona, Cameron and Natasha Pryde
