To the family and friends of Lisa, and on behalf of my family, I would like to extend my condolences to you. I used to be a member of the Whitby Ice Pix and the Whitby Ice Angels during the late 1980s and early 1990s with Lisa and I was extremely saddened to come across her obituary in my seeking to reconnect with my old figure skating colleagues. Although this is months late, I know that her passing may still be difficult to bear. I wish you all the strength, perseverance, and hope through the grieving process. Mrs. Young was my grade 4 teacher as well as my favourite teacher. No one could ever forget Mrs. Young as her class was always filled with laughter and smiles. We had so many great memories in that class that I will never forget. Our pet frogs Romeo & Juliet, the screamings of E.T., eating the red and black jube jubes for her, and reading camp x. These were only some of the great memories we had with her. Mrs. Young always cared so much about her students. She would even call us her second family. Even when all of our other teachers left she promised us she would stay, because she cared about us. Even after being diagnosed she found time to come to our grade 8 graduation. I knew she was proud of us, as we were all proud of her for staying strong. Mrs. Young was not just my teacher, she was my friend. She will never be forgotten as she was our favourite teacher, and I know all my fellow students would agree. Rest in Peace Mrs. Young you are with the angels now. Thoughts and prayers to her family.

I'm very sorry to hear this. My condolences go out to her family. I was a student teacher in Lisa's class while she was pregnant with her son. She was so excited to be a mother...it was all she could talk about. She had such charisma and was so outgoing. Her smile was infectious. As a thank you she took all of my engagement photos from my trip and put them in a photo book. It is a book I treasure and have always appreciated the time it took her to do that. She was so kind and generous. A wonderful teacher and a wonderful person. My thoughts are with you.

For days I have been trying to put into words how I feel; but how do you summarize almost 30 years of laughs, love and sometimes tears. So I don't have the right words but I wanted to thank you. Lisa was an amazing woman…will always remember the last fundraising poker tournament she organized and hosted (Run for the Cure )…laughing, drinking her red wine and loving watching the men playing cards.
