I was bassist in her band before Tamin Thunder, this was around 2003-4. I remember her son Reece. He and my son would play during rehearsals. Ilse and I were close as I was also a piano student and she asked me to help her compose a melody for a special project of hers. I’ll never forget you Ilse! RIP.

Marty &Reece! My heart is breaking, feeling the emptiness of a world with our loving Ilse. Sending love, hugs, comforting thoughts to you both! I will never forget that first meeting; her radiant smile, laughter, encouragement and acceptance of our music, her genuine interest in me. Watching her perform was purely magical! A passionate, caring angel who treated everyone with equal respect and love. I remember a couple of years ago visiting her at home; catching up on our lives, and singing songs with her and Arty! These memories will be etched into my heart forever! Being asked to add a bit of harmony to two of her songs on her cd meant so much to me.
I will miss her and remember her pure soul always!

To my cousin Martin, my deepest heartfelt sympathy to you and family on the passing of your lovely wife Ilse, I am glad that I was able to meet her when she visited Nova Scotia a beautiful lady, she is very well know and loved by many.
God is gonna get you and family through this difficult time God is able to do anything but fail, He took an angel home with him, now she is singing in His Heavenly Choir.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your path. Acknowledge Him at all times.
I prayer God will give you the strength and comfort you need at this time.
My prayers and thoughts will be there and hold onto Gods unchanging hand.

My sympathies are with Else's family, friends and fans for our pain of loss. I hope that soon we will be able to have this period of mourning in death be replaced with rejoicing in her life. May the peace that comes from the memories of love shared comfort now and in the days ahead. Saying goodbye to someone we love is heartbreaking. May everyone find comfort in all the special memories shared with Else as she is now resting peacefully in the eternal and while she may no longer physically be with us, her spirit will continue to fill the hearts of so many people.

We not only loved Ilse with all of our hearts. We felt loved by her. Her voice, so powerful on any stage, so musical when she sang or laughed, could also be so warm, soft, and gentle when encouraging her friends. I know that she would console us all, in the tenderest way, if she saw us grieving, now. She was the person that we could talk to about anything. She was so loving, accepting, and comforting. We tried to give back to her, but she always gave us more. I hope that Ilse knew how truly we loved her. How much we admired and cherished her. Her legendary smile, with her kind eyes sparkling, emanated from such a generous heart. She saw the good in others. She was not blind to the pain and division in the world, but she used her huge gifts to bring people together. She ignited joy and connected the human family the best way she knew how, through her magnetic personality, her stirring voice, and her uplifting music. When Ilse stepped up to the mic, it was more than just excellent entertainment or an escape from everyday cares. Each member of her audience felt seen and appreciated. Her welcoming smile and outstretched arms beckoned discouraged souls to celebrate, let go, and come dancing. Those of us lucky enough to know Ilse both on and off the stage know that she was a kind, sincere, and genuine friend. She faced this disease so fearlessly, so privately, that few of us knew the extent of the relapse until it was too late. I saw her three times in the last four months, and had no idea that this summer would be her last. On September 20 at 7 p.m., the day which will now see her memorial service, Ilse would have taken the stage at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa to share her beautiful, original music on the acoustic stage with Dale Russell, Tafari Anthony and I. We were looking forward to rehearsing with Ilse this week. Like everyone else, we were always excited to spend time with this luminous Lady, and always thought we would have more. You left us too soon, Ilse, and many are struggling with the sadness and shock, but you truly left behind a lasting, loving legacy.

I am so so very sorry for your loss. It's so unimaginable that Ilse - who was larger than life - is no longer with us. It's hard for me to grasp as a friend and as a "fan"; I can only imagine the deep void that has been created for Marty, Reese and the rest of Ilse's family. She embodied grace and kindness and radiated love. She will be missed terribly.
