Very sorry to learn of John's passing. Worked together at CRA in the mid 90's and stayed in touch very easily with John was a decent a person you will ever meet. Courteous, friendly, funny, loved to talk sports, but most importantly, always available to chat with professionally and socially. Truly one of my favourite CRA colleagues.

I remember John so well from decades ago at 25 St. Clair Ave. E. (and long after, of course).
I always remember hearing John on the phone with taxpayers in Collections (...because I didn't sit very far away in Finance, and he was always pretty good in making his point!... :-)

My deepest sympathy on the loss of a good friend and former co-worker at the CRA. John was always a reliable, happy-go-lucky guy at the office, who exuded a real love for the many facets of his very full life. From his Maine-Coons to his cars, to travelling the world, and of course his beloved wife and family, John was very committed to everything he engaged in. He will be sorely missed. May all the fond memories of good times shared soon replace the feelings of pain and loss you experience today. - Rest in peace, my good friend.

I have the privilege of working with John Schaeffer for many years at the Canada Revenue Agency . He was kind hearted, considerate and had a great sense of humour. So sorry to hear of John's passing . He was such an amazing neighbour and friend . John would never hesitate to say hello and inquire how we were doing . We would often talk about his trips, and he would give us helpful information , for our future travels. He had a great sense of humour and was very kind and considerate .He will truly be missed .Rest in peace John.
