Obituary of Irene Brown
BROWN, (Florence) Irene
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Hillsdale Estates on May 1, 2019 at the age of 102. Beloved wife of the late Albert Brown. Loving mother of Ted (Suzanne), James (Carol) and the late Bette (Hugh, spouse Charlotte). Cherished grandmother of Karen (Mark), Kathy, Russell (Kelly), Jason, Susan, Gregory, Rachel (Alex) and Christopher and great grandmother of Sydney, Glenn, Matthew, Wyatt and Olivia. Dear sister of Peter (the late Kay) and the late Kip. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Irene was a life long resident of Oshawa, and was actively involved in real estate, owning her own company for many years. She was a true matriarch who welcomed everyone and loved to immerse herself in family and friends. She always had an ear to listen. She spent many summers at her beloved cottage on Four Mile Lake and would challenge anyone to a game of scrabble, one of her favourites. She almost always won! Irene had an eye for fashion – her hair always looked lovely, her nails done, and pink and purple were definitely in her wardrobe. She could tackle any conversation, and everyone always said she was “as sharp as a tack”. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport)905-440-3595 on Sunday, May 5th from 1:00-3:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.
