I was shocked to hear of Andy's passing. I first met Andy when we roomed together at the Senior Nationals in Miramichi in 2015. Andy had a big heart and genuinely cared for everyone. We had a great time at that tournament and spent time working together on national committees. Andy was a hard worker and was always willing to step up and help whenever he was asked. He is a huge loss for Baseball umpires in this country and I have lost a friend, as have we all. Rest in peace, my friend.

I was absolutely shocked and saddened to hear of Andy's passing. Andy & I umpired Junior Nationals together in St. Thomas in 2018, and although it was the first time we ever met, we bonded quickly, probably because Andy had such a great sense of humor and was so fun to be around. We had some great laughs and talks, especially after he did the plate on the bronze medal game and ejected the coach from Quebec after a balk call. The argument was long and animated, and there was no doubt by all who watched it who was in charge of that incident (and it wasn't the Quebec coach!). Andy and I had a great laugh about it over slices of pizza after the game. I remember looking at his Baseball Canada tattoo's adorning his legs from all of the Nationals that he had been to and thinking that was a pretty cool way to remember where he had been and the people he had shared them with. The umpire community is small and tight, and to lose a man of this caliber from its ranks is devastating. It reminds us all that life is precious and short. I would have given anything to have one more tournament with Andy. He was fun to be around, and he'll be missed. To Andy's wife and kids (who he talked so lovingly about while we were in St. Thomas) I offer my deepest condolences. If there's baseball in heaven (which I'm sure there is) save me a spot on the diamond with you, big man. Till we meet again, Brian (Bull) Cummings
