I just learned today of Keith's passing through a former colleague of mine from our days at IBM. Keith had such a gentle, warm-hearted nature about him. His cubicle was next to mine, and it was always a pleasure to converse with him about one of his key passions: hockey. My condolences to his wife, children, and family. He is dearly missed.

One of the best bosses I have ever had, a great person and a great friend. Some of my best memories are of visiting Keith, Paola , Brandon and Grant in Whitby and of the Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 when Keith and the boys visited. Wished we had talked more over the past few years but when we did talk it was like no time had passed. He was the only person I let call me “kiddo” - lol. Have a Shaftebury for me in heaven. My sincerest sympathies on the passing of a wonderful man. May you find comfort in your fond memories of him during this difficult time.
I met Keith in 1996, as we started within a week of each other at IBM. I so admired his pragmatic ways and chipper disposition. A memory that keeps playing over and over in my head was the day I was playing with his Dungeon and Dragon figurines sitting atop his monitor. He kept saying in his calm demeanour, "don't touch them...put it down, 'Fidget,' put it down." Of course, the figurine slipped out of my hand and broke a wing off of a pterodactyl-like toy. While I felt horrible about it, he took it in stride and was a forgiving gentleman. We joked about it for years after that.
Keith was a wonderful man and I will miss our chats dearly. To the Cherrier family, I hope to see you all in better times.

Paola, Grant & Brandon. I am very saddened at the passing of Keith. The news hit like a ton of bricks. He was such an amazing father, husband, friend, coach and community member. The lives he touched through hockey is immeasurable. I thoroughly enjoyed coaching with him, and developing a great friendship with him over the years. He was so friendly, happy, outgoing and 100% genuine. I honestly have never met anyone as down to earth and so full of life as Keith. My heart goes out to all of you.
