Deb & Family,
I worked with Mark for many years on Hockey Night in Canada. Every Saturday night at Maple Leaf Gardens then later at the Air Canada Centre. We spent many a night on the road during playoffs and one of the highlights in Nagano, Japan for the 1998 Winter Olympics. We spent much of the down time laughing and enjoying a few cold ones.
Mark was always first to arrive and last to leave, life of the one who drives the mobile TV truck I guess. Mark was a solid guy. You could always count on him to deliver, offer to help, and bring his "A" game every time. Mark did everything smooth and with confidence, whether it was the main game camera or backing a 76 foot truck into a tight spot, or drive for hours and still bring the same energy and dedication. I feel lucky to have spent time with him.
Here is a photo from May 2001 of some of the guys from the crew: Left-to-Right - Gerry Zandbergen, Kyle Wagner, Duncan Blair (me), Kerry O'Donnell, Tim Rohal, of course always in shorts - Mark.
My wife Brenda & I send our thoughts and condolences to you and your family.

My condolences to Mark’s family, you must miss his beautiful laugh. This photo of the last opening face off at maple leaf gardens has hung above my desk for years and if you look in the lower left you’ll see a TV camera with its red light on, and Mark standing behind it, just one of the hundreds of memories Mark brought to Canada and the world. I’ll always remember his gracious way and eagerness to help anyone whether tv related or not. He lived, it seemed to me as though his red talley was always on and will be missed by all lucky enough to have known him.

Debbie, please accept my condolences on Mark’s passing. Even though it was not a surprise, it was still a shock.
As you know, working at the CBC involved lots of long hours. You learn very quickly who is a good person and who is an idiot... Mark was a great person. His friendship was an honour.
Mark... The Big Lake won’t be the same without you. I wish you “fair winds and following seas”.

Debra and family, I can’t imagine the feeling of loss you must be experiencing at this sad time...my deepest condolences to you and yours.
If I’ve ever truly had a man crush it would have been on Mark. His ability to drive a TV mobile like a sports car and do camera like a champ were just some of the many great talents that sweet gentleman had!
My fondest memory of Mark will be conversations about the many vehicles I wanted to purchase over the years and Mark’s inevitable question to me each and every time...”how much does it tow?” He’d be happy to know that it’s something I always check on any vehicle I look at now...the world has lost a sweet and gentle man...

Deb and Family,
I hope this outpouring of love and support will console you during this difficult time.
Not only was Mark a good camera operator but more importantly he was a good person.
We shared camera duties for a variety of programs over the years. It was great being on the same team with him.
It is the people you miss most when one retires. Mark was special and will be missed.

I'm very sad to hear this news. Mark was a hell of a guy.
My favourite pic of him is attached of him happily behind the camera at the Stanley Cup Finals.
My sincerest condolences to his loved ones on his passing.

To Debbie and the family my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I met Mark early in my career at the corp. and over the years admired and respected his work. Whether on the road with HNIC or at parliament hill I can't think of another person I would rather work beside. Thanks for all the wonderful memories.

Deb and family - my sincerest condolences to you all. I have read through the tributes and can't help but echo the honest truth of who Mark was to so many. He was kind, considerate, always there to lend a helping hand, one you can always count on no matter what. He shared many stories with us both work and home, loved showing off the photos of what the grandkids were up to. Mark taught us various aspects of boating - the weather, the knots, and the docking, he was always, always there to lend a hand and catch us. Mark welcomed us to Pier 4, and for that i will be forever grateful in having the opportunity to have gotten to know Mark. Mark will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Debra and family,
Wayne and I were very sad to hear of Mark's passing today. We worked
with Mark on various CBC shows. Mark was a pleasure to work with and a
very nice person. Mark's room on remotes with Dennis was the Party room, you knew
you were always welcomed !
Glad we were able to be friends from the 1980's.
Deepest sympathy to you all.

Condolences to the family.
I worked with Mark for over 10 years on HNIC and other projects. He was always a gentleman and so helpful to me as one of the only women on the team. I'll remember our talks about outdoor life and things that were important to us. I also want to say what a great cameraman he was as well AND he drove the HNIC mobile all across the country!
I hope some of his retirement was free of pain and that he enjoyed his boat as much as he could. Life was too short for him for sure.

I admired Mark for so many reasons. He radiated a sense of decency - a true professional who quietly led by example. His dry sense of humour was always welcomed and appreciated by his CBC colleagues.
Mark found that elusive work/life balance and wouldn't hesitate to share stories of his latest boating adventure. Mark was fiercely proud of his daughters and grand kids. Debra, my sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Oh Deb, I’m so sorry for your loss. Mark, as you know and all of the tributes attest, was an awesome guy. He touched many lives. In fact, aside from one of my CBC friends letting me know about Mark’s passing, my daughter’s in-laws also contacted me. (Mark had taught them boating safety.). I remember “introducing” Mark to one of the shows (outside of Sports) many years ago. Of course in no time his talent, professionalism and personality put him at the top of their list. I wish you and the girls and their families some solace in knowing that Mark was loved and respected by many. Sending you virtual hugs.

Dearest Debra, this news is heartbreaking, I have such fond memories of working with Mark on too many productions to count. Thoughts of meeting up with both of you at the boat show and sharing a laugh. Mark was a wonderfully, kind and generous man, with a wicked dry senes of humour, that I always admired. The roll he played in our lives at the CBC will never be forgotten.
My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Be strong, I know that is what he would want.

So very saddened to learn of Mark's passing. I always enjoyed working with him, no matter what the assignment, he never failed to deliver his best. We were co-workers for many years. I first met Mark at 111 Gerrard Street so many years ago where he worked in CBC Transportation and I was in the Central Mailroom and later worked on HNIC. Condolences to Debra and her family and friends for their loss. Rest in peace, Mark.
