I have so many happy memories of Shawn from a baby to adulthood. Being a beloved brother to his little sister, his graduation from the Police Academy and his marriage to Tonya. We went through good times and bad times together. Shawn, you grew up to be a caring, responsible and loving husband to Tonya, father to Victoria and Amelia, and friend to many. I met Shawn in 2008 as a young rookie. He was my first coach and was very encouraging. He drove fast, ate loud, and was always excessively cordial with members of the community he policed.
The city of Toronto definitely lost a good one and I'm proud to have the privilege of knowing him.

I was best friends with Shawn from ages seven to about 12 years of age back in Metcalfe Ontario. I remember playing Nintendo playing Monopoly playing hockey soccer riding bikes having sleepovers, going to a WWF event where we watched hulk hogan fight the big boss man, attending scouts including CJ 89 which was a large scout camp in Prince Edward Island, and doing everything together. I remember him as a good-natured kind hearted person and I was very sad to hear about his loss. I lost track of him when I moved out to British Columbia when I was about 12 other than he came out to visit me once after saving up his money to pay for the trip himself. I tried to look him up several times in recent years to try to reconnect, but was not able to locate him. I had no idea he was ill. It sounds like he lived a fulfilling yet too short life. I wish all the best to his family and offer my sincere condolences for his untimely passing.
