My deepest condolences to Maggie, my beautiful cousins and the entire Stone family and friends for the loss of our beloved Bernard. May you all find comfort and peace today as we say goodbye.
Uncle Bernard, was a wonderful, kind, compassionate and loving man who always saw past peoples faults and mistakes - seeing and accepting them for who they were at heart.
He was a true gentleman and my favourite dance partner at family weddings and parties.
I have many, many fond memories of Bernard and will miss his sense of humour, grace and sage advice. God speed Bernard, you will be missed and carried in our hearts always!

52 years ago today, February 9, 1969, my brother Bernard did my bride and I the honour of being the Best Man at our wedding in Trinidad. And that's exactly why we chose him, because he was then and is still today the best man we have ever known. Bernard always had the warmth and empathy you needed in times of trouble, and dished out the scoulding when you deserved it. He never shied away from discipline. His smile was as warm as his bark was terrifying!
I have many memories of him in Trinidad when he was still living under our parents roof; he is 13 years my senior. He left home at a relatively young age to marry the love of his life, Maggie, and among the canefields of Caroni Limited they raised their family. He became a superb horseman, and I remember him taking part in a Gymkhana (a day event comprising races and other competitions between horse riders) in Trinidad, the Caroni boys vs. the Trinidad Mounted Police Force.
We paid him many visits and looked up to him for his kindness, love, support and generosity. Bernard and Maggie always made us feel welcomed whether it was in Trinidad, Montreal, Ajax or Oshawa. Their home and kitchen was always open, and whatever you needed to know about anyone else, ask Maggie!
Thank you Bernard for showing us the way to be a man, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and all the while you were faithful to your God and let people know that you follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Perhaps you taught us by your words and actions that being close to God makes us all of these things, too.
Deidre and I will miss you with all our hearts, and we know that you have gone home to your promised reward in Heaven, and you are preparing the welcome committee for us for when we all eventually arrive there. John 14:2 says "In my Fathers house there are many rooms..." I want the room next to yours!
Rest well my friend and brother, a good and faithful servant.
