To the Tangie Family, I was very saddened to hear the news that Tom had passed. I started working at Mimico.C.C in 1975 and it was there that I met and worked with Tom. Tom was truly one of the good guys, always with a smile, a little joke and a nick name for just about everyone. I was sad to see Tom leave Mimico but he had other plans. I worked with Tom at the Yorkdale and later Downsview Regional Offices. Tom was a quiet kinda guy, sure on the path he had chosen in life. Tom left a path of good memories with all who knew him. I first met Tom in the mid-80s when he worked at Mimico CC. We were both Local Presidents and active in our Union, OPSEU.
I have a vivid lasting memory of Tommy dressed in a toga, when we were doing a skit together at a Union educational. We both ended up working at OPSEU and I found him to be a compassionate man, with a great sense of humour.
In the Corrections vernacular: he was solid.
