So sorry to hear of Richard"s passing. An old friend from Belleville pointed out his obit to me.
I had no idea that we both had been sharing Oshawa as a home for all these years.
We were friends when we attended Harry J Clarke school in Belleville in the 1960's.

Dear Wendy and family, you and Rick were my pastors at Beachburg when I was a youth. I was your favourite babysitter for Becky and Matthew. I am grateful for your ministry in a very critical time in life (the dreaded teanager). I will always remember Pastor Rick for his humour and his beautiful singing. I send you my deepest condolences and I pray that God will give you peace and strength to get through this journey of grief. It is a very difficult road to walk but I know Jesus is walking with you and will get you through it.
Sincerely,
Norma (Gutz) MacLean

To the Bombay family, my sincere condolences to each of you as you walk this journey, while I didn't get the opportunity to know Rick in a ministry context, I certainly value the heritage and love that the Bombay family has created in and through a name synonymous with leaving an impact on this world in the name of Christ. My thoughts are with you all as you continue along this path and into the days beyond.

Wendy, Becci, Matt and Rachel,
I am deeply saddened for your loss - and the loss of a friend. I've known your family for 30+ years and had the opportunity to work closely with Rick at EOD. I loved his humor, forthright comments, care for others, intellect, and his passion for God. Rick didn't just "do" life, he enjoyed it. There will be a huge loss in so many hearts.
I am praying that God's peace will overwhelm your family today and in the days following. May your minds be filled as mine is - with many memories that Rick created that brings smiles to our faces.

Pastor Rick was my pastor at Christian Life Centre in Ajax in the 80's.
I remember we helped move him from Montreal to his place in Ajax. That was a fun move!!!
Then Pastor Rick "convinced" me to become Treasurer at CLC.
He said it would be easy!!! Ha Ha.
I know he is resting in the arms of Jesus right now.
My condolences to the family.

Dear Wendy and Family - Rick's passing has been a shock and a terrible loss. I have known Rick since we were young children at Simcoe St Pentecostal in Oshawa. Our paths crossed often through the years, at college, being in each other's wedding and Rick dedicating my son and daughter in later years. He was a kind gentleman who can not be replaced. Love and prayers during this time. Caroline Bell-Tiberio

Wendy and family.
As Pastor , Board and congregation of Calvary Pentecostal Church Port Hope, we offer you our most sincere sympathy on the sudden passing of your husband/father Rick.
You and Rick pastored our assembly as your very first, out of Bible school.
Many wonderful memories linger as he was known to be tender hearted and compassionate with a great sense of humor.
We pray you sense God's comforting presence today and in the days to come confident in the knowledge and hope of seeing him again in eternity.

Dear Wendy, Rebecca, Matthew, Rachael and family;
We were so saddened to hear of Rick's passing. How thankful we are for having him first of all in our lives as youth. Rick was so fun and had a genuine concern that we as youth in the church dig into God. He took an interest in us and encouraged us in our walk with the Lord and for that I will always think so fondly of him with gratitude.
You will all be in our prayers and thoughts as you journey ahead in your healing process.
With sympathy and love.

Dear Wendy, family and extended fam jam
I had lots of great interactions with Rick in my teen years - more specifically at Ottawa Valley Young Camp. The last year I attended youth camp Rick told Scott Young and I that we were too old for youth camp and that we should attend College & Career age functions. Hmmmm, there's a idea. So Scott and I drew up a pile of signs that said "RESERVED FOR COLLEGE & CAREER ONLY" - They were found everywhere - we placed them on one of the double doors that led to the dining hall (when it came time to line up for meals you knew where we were). In the Tabernacle we reserved the front two rows (even though we were the only ones sitting there). We had signs on the Men's washroom. I think we also claimed part of the beach and parking spots at the camp too. Rick was only a year older than us but we either didn't know that or chose ignored that fact - likely the latter.
Rick could dish it out as fast as we could deliver it which was fun. Youth Camp was memorable partly because of Rick and partly because of the hair brain antics we did. We'll see you again one day! Blessings to you Wendy and Family.

D. Murray Griffin writes that the Bombay Family has been an integral part of my life since the earth was cooling. David was my twin, APR 3 36.
Cal was my room mate in EBBC for two years but we couldn't convince him for our third. Mary's fault. And then there is Rick. Just the greatest inspiration this old retarded, oops retired, pastor could ever want and pray for. No words can express what we all feel. Anointed and blessed, loving and witty, only heaven will reveal the results. It was his parents who picked up two boys, ages 11 and 6 Don, at the side of the road in 1947 and cared for us after a fatal accident. And BTW, thanks for adopting Ken. Somebody has to look after him too. Love and prayers for all.

When we look back over our church history at Beachburg Pentecostal Tabernacle in Beachburg Ontario we realize how blest we have been by those God sent our way to become our pastors. Rev Richard and Wendy Bombay joined us in August 1978. They came at a time when we were a bit fractured and left us better for knowing them in October 1981. Their son, Matthew Richard was born in February 1980. During one memorable Sunday morning service as the Lord was blessing His people Wendy turned at the piano bench and called to Shelley, “Shelley if you come to the front you will be healed”. Several months later God’s healing resulted in the miraculous birth of baby boy, Greg. In 2008 Greg himself became a father continuing the miracle. Our first DVBS was held in the summer of 1979 under Rick & Wendy’s leadership. Until Covid shut us down in 2020 I don’t think we had missed a year making the VBS of 2019 the 40th annual outreach; quite a legacy Pastor and Mrs. B! We remember Pastor Rick for his great cooking skills, his willingness to visit both in our homes and when in hospital.
We send our sincere condolences to Wendy, Rebecca, Matt, Rachel, and their families, including the extended Bombay family. Thank you for sharing your lives in ministry for the Lord.
Mrs. Jean Bird on behalf on the Board and congregation of Beachburg Pentecostal Tabernacle.

Dear Wendy and family:
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Rick’s passing. Dave and I have known Rick since we were part of the youth group as teenagers at Calvary Temple in Belleville.
Years later we would meet up again on several occasions but it was his leadership at OVPC that sticks in our minds the most. “Welcome Home” was the phrase he used for us at camp and it still remains to this day!!!!
We send our deepest sympathies to you and the family and pray that you find peace and comfort knowing His Lord and Saviour has Welcomed Him Home.
“To be absent from the body, present with the Lord”

Dear Wendy and Family; I was so, so saddened by the news of Rick's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of our times together at various Youth Camps in the District, throughout the last decades! Polly and I would often share funny moments, or emotional times, that involved your both! Rick served as a bit of a mentor for me in my first few years as Youth Leader and Camp counsellor for so many years. He was always an inspiration in so many ways...especially being able to mix ministry and humour appropriately!
He will be sorely missed by so many. I find comfort imagining Rick and Polly worshipping Jesus together or engaging in 'deep' theological discussions in Heaven!!
I will continue to pray for you and the family, Wendy. Blessings and find comfort in the years of wonderful times that you shared together.
