Obituary of Jay Lane
James Daniel Lane (1987-2021)
James Daniel Lane (34 yrs) passed away too soon on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa where he was being treated for an aggressive cancer.
Jay was adoring and proud father to Jillian (5) and little Matthew (2), loving husband to lifetime partner Stephanie Wong of Whitby ON, and son to lucky parents Pat and Dan Lane of Arichat, Cape Breton, NS, loving in-laws May and Robert Wong of Scarborough ON, and brother-in-law to Tiffany and Nick Lee, parents to Maddy and Ethan.
Jay will be sorely missed by his older brother Tim and Chelsey Wilson of Vancouver, BC and younger sisters Sarah and Lucas Wilson of Kemptville ON, and Jenna and Dennis Law of St. John’s, NL. His loss has created a hole in the family that can never be replaced.
Jay treasured his role as father to the kids and devoted companion, forever friend, and life’s love to Stephanie. Jay had a career as the Health Analyst, Health Analytics and Research Team (HART) of the Durham Region Health Department. He had degrees from the University of Guelph, where he met Stephanie – the love of his life, a graduate certificate from York University, and a master’s degree from the University of Waterloo. He was student, researcher, published author, teammate, band member and drummer, road bike enthusiast, Red Wings and Senators fan, and craft beer and sushi lover, as well as friend to all who knew him.
The memory of Jay’s too short life will need to sustain us until we meet again. While we will miss out on the new memories you could have shared with us, we will treasure all you have left behind and remember by your example to cherish and love every precious moment of this life.
The families wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa including Stephanie’s work family at the Durham Regional Cancer Centre (DRCC) who looked out for Jay during his diagnosis and treatment.

Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport) 905-440-3595 on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 12:00pm-2:00pm. A Service of Remembrance for Jay will be held in the DeStefano Chapel at 2:00pm. A private family internment will follow.
