Obituary of Henry Kucera

Henry Kucera 

Peacefully on Friday, September 30th, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 83.  Beloved husband of Judy.   Loving Father of Ted (Sharon), Terry and (the late Jody), Christie (John) . Cherished Grandfather of Samantha (Dave), Nick (Courtney), Robert (Ashley), Julie (Brad) and Rachel, Maya and Teddy. Great Grandfather of Bennett, Carson, and Salem.   Henry is predeceased by his parents Maria and Theo, and will be lovingly remembered by his brother Herb, and brother-in-law, Richard and Ralph and their families.

Henry was born in Vienna, Austria on June 9th, 1939 and immigrated to Canada in 1953. As a proud Canadian, nothing made him happier than watching his children and grandchildren play hockey, lacrosse and other sports. Henry also loved his Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, and will surely be smiling from above when they finally win it all!

Henry Kucera was a teacher with the Toronto District School Board, and had a great passion for teaching science. He had a special ability to make everyone feel at peace, and to make everyone laugh, no matter what their age. He’ll always be remembered for his care free “don’t worry be happy” spirit.

We would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors at Lakeridge Health Oshawa who went above and beyond their duties when caring for him, and for making him feel comfortable in his final days. 

Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa (905) 440 3595 on Saturday October 15th from 11:00am – 1:00pm.   A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 1:00pm. A reception will follow in the Funeral Home Aviation Lounge after the service.
