I met Joe during my first year of teaching at St. John the Evangelist Catholic school in Whitby. Joe was a warm and welcoming man, who showed great kindness in all of his interactions. Joe always kept the school extremely clean and took great pride in his work. My husband Chris worked with Joe and he became friends with him too. They enjoyed talking in Maltese to each other. Debby and his children meant the world to him. We will treasure all of the memories! God bless!
Love and Prayers,
Theresa (Stout) and Chris Frendo Cumbo

Life just won’t be the same without Joe up at the lake. His always positive outlook and obvious love of his family was there constantly. He’ll be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Joseph (Joe) at St. John the Evangelist School in Whitby (2004-2009). He was always smiling and always had time for a chat. His work ethic and dedication to keeping our school clean was admirable and greatly appreciated. He could be a no none sense kind of guy, but he had a big heart.
My deepest condolences to the Cauchi Family.

My big brother Joe (Guzi) was my hero when growing up (not to mention now)
He always took the time to spend with me and used to take me everywhere he went on his bicycle until I got too big to fit on the front of it
He used to make me kites to fly, and allowed me to play with his cars
It was tough being the youngest of the family with the rest of my siblings doing their own thing, but he was always there for me even though we were seven years apart in age. Guzi was always there for me
He made me a miniature living room furniture set of wicker and I remember him throwing them off the roof of our house -two stories up-to test their strength, they were indestructible. He used to be employed at making (life sized) wicker furniture and he was the best at it on the whole Island. Guzi’s motto was: unless you are going to do your best at whatever you are doing, then don’t bother!
Guzi was the most handy person I have ever met. He could fix anything around the house, but he disliked painting the walls. Guzi did a lot of projects at my house, including drywall my living room, laid down floor tiles, built me a fence, built me a gazebo, repaired my interlocking bricks, edged my flowerbeds, and many more tasks
If his eyes could see it his hands would make it!!
Guzi was a craftsman. He built us all wooden wishing wells for our yards. He loved working with wood, He could build furniture, cupboards, and spent many an hour in his workshop carving and painting wooden sail boats, cars and trucks, he was so artistic.
Guzi was so patient and gentle in spirit, and always “happy go lucky” generous to a fault, and the most helpful Person in the universe.
I will always be grateful to him for everything he was and did for me and everyone else who had the fortune of crossing paths during his all too short life. You are what ANGELS are like❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love you Guz” now and everyday of the rest of my life
I will always treasure you My Hero
Your loving little sister,
Yvonne

Dear Jennifer, David and Jolene, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved father. Joe was a gentle loving man and my memories of him goes back many years to when we were about 5 & 8 years of age, Joe used to come to our house often and spend the day playing and laughing. We came to Canada in 1958 and when Joe came in here in '66 he came to live with us, that skinny little boy I last saw in Malta had turned into a very handsome young man. The girls in our neighborhood noticed and used to walk by our house trying to get his attention. Life took us in different towns but every time Joe and I would meet usually at a family wedding or at a sad funeral he was always ready with that beautiful smile on his face and loving hugs and catching up on our family's news. Dear cousin Joe may you rest in peace and although you are gone from us you will remain in our hearts forever, you will never be forgotten.... love your cousin Mary Grixti Spiteri.

My dog Buddy and I always looked for you and Georgina while out for our walks. I so much enjoyed seeing your wonderful car wood carvings. Such a talented and caring man. I will miss our chats and I'm glad you enjoyed my plum jam. I hope you are with your wife now in Heaven. Thank you to your neighbour for letting me know you left us so quickly. May God bless you and your family.

When my brother Joe and I were growing up, we spent a lot of time at Uncle Joe and Aunt Debbie's. We were always laughing, having funnand of course, eating! I will always remember Uncle Joe's laughter and his smile. He was the kindest man, and I know my dad, George, will miss you so much. You were both 2 Peas in a Pod.
My sincerest condolences to you all.

Joe was a kind and caring individual who took a great deal of pride in his work. When we worked together I often commented that the floors had a special shine that I had never seen in any other board building, which was the absolute truth. He was a great person. Sincere condolences to his family.

Q: Describe where Joseph worked and what they did
A: I first met Joe when he was the Chief Custodian at St. John the Evangelist school in Whitby.
I was fortunate to have Joe as my mentor when I first started with the Board.
He taught me to be the detailed Custodian that I am today.
Thank you for everything, Joe. You will be greatly missed.

Joe was one of the finest individuals that I met in teaching days at St John the Evangelist School. We certainly had a few laughs and great conversations in my 18 years at the school. He told me numerous times he quit smoking at recess but he started back up at lunch. A very dedicated and hard working individual. Sad to hear of his passing but so fortunate that I met him. God bless. Larry McAvoy
