Cauchi, Joseph John Emmanuel

Joseph died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 12th, 2023, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. In death Joseph returns to the side of his beloved wife Debbie who predeceased him in 2018. Joseph was born on April 2nd, 1945, in Marsa, Malta to Saviour and Carmen Cauchi. Joseph moved to Canada in 1966. Doing odd jobs, he met his best friend John Hyde and had many adventures, including meeting the love of his life Debbie. Joseph is survived  by his 3 children, daughter Jennifer Cauchi, son David Cauchi, daughter-in-law Christina, daughter Jolene Lushington, and son-in-law Jay. He was a proud Nannu of Mika, Martina, Tehya, Mason, Aliyah, and Grayson. Loved as a second father to Nephew Michael Cauchi (Shelagh). Lovingly missed by his sisters Victoria Puglisevich (Eddie), Doris Spiteri (Leo), and Yvonne Smith (Larry). Missed by his brother-in-law Thomas Short. He will be dearly missed by all his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Immensely missed by his cousin George Debrincat who spent many evenings eating and watching TV together. Predeceased by his brothers Emmanuel “Sam” Cauchi, and George Cauchi. Joseph was a custodian with the DCDSB and was proud to work at St. John the Evangelist School for over 20 years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and neighbour. Joe was always happy-go-lucky, generous with his time and skills to anyone who was in need. His family gives everyone who cared for Joe the greatest and warmest gratitude. A visitation will be held at De Stefano Funeral Home on Monday March 20th, 2023, at 10am, followed by a service at 11am. An interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery located at 355 Taunton Rd. E. A celebration of life will be held at General Sikorski lower level hall at 1551 Stevenson Rd N. Jeans and plaid shirts are encouraged to honour Joseph.
