Dear Roberta and family,
I am so sorry to hear of the sad news of Guy’s passing. He and I started our teaching careers together in 1971 at Eastdale and we both taught there for many years. He was a kind and generous man, offering to drive me and a colleague in my dept. rides to school before we had cars. I’m sure he was an inspiration to his chemistry students, emphasizing to them that everything in life involved chemistry, but most importantly, by the subtle way he showed them how to meet life’s challenges by his own example. May you all cherish the memory of this fine man.

Guy was a friend to so many people. I am proud to say he was a good friend of mine for over fifty years. In 1973, he and I directed Anderson C.V.I.'s first musical, "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown". He and Mary Pat became members of our dinner club during the 1970s. He advised me on many subjects, such as my disc jockeying and my rudimentary use of the Commodore 64 computers in the early 1980s. He was a fine husband to both Mary Pat and Robbie and a wonderful father to his children. I am sorry he is gone and I want to offer my sincere condolences to his family.

I have known Guy nearly my entire life and being a close friend of my fathers he felt more like family to me. I have many wonderful memories playing with Justin, Kathleen and Andrew and as time went on getting to know Robbie as well.
Guy was always so kind, gentle and easy to talk to. I always looked forward to his visits and the conversations we would have whether about the latest gadgets he was into or sharing proudly what his kids were up to. Guy you will be greatly missed but I am grateful the time I got to share with you.

To the family of Guy Lafontaine.
I met Guy in the year of 1988. He worked as the Computer Consultant for the Durham DSB. I had been promoted to a new program and the principal asked me to learn how to use a computer. That was a scary thought!!!
The principal gave me the name and phone number for Guy. I met a man who had lots of patience and lots of skill to inform teachers how to use a computer. in the late 80's, computers were very new to all of us. Guy had a challenging time ahead and yet he spent countless hours, setting up computer, training teachers to use the computers, and I am sure there were a hundred other jobs involved.
Many fond memories of the days of learning computers while being trained with the expertise from Guy.

I taught with Guy at ACVI. When computers first came onto the scene, we started taking courses together (Guy, Tom and myself). We knew it was the way of the future. But, we always found time to socialize, and had many 'good times' together. Guy had serious health problems when he was young, but, with great determination, went on to enjoy a wonderful life. It was an honor to have him as a friend.

Guy was a true and dear friend.
He was always there when you asked him.
I know he remembered the changing of a fuse in Gary McConnell's home in Blackstock in the 1980's. After I had "repaired" a light circuit. I asked him to install the new fuse, but the power was still on. There was a blue flash and a boom. I should not have left the power on. To show you how trusting Guy was, I "reworked" the circuit. Again when asked, Guy put in the second fuse. There was another boom and blue flash. That's what I call TRUST.
