In Loving Memory of Thomas Edward Austin MacMurdo “Austin”
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Austin MacMurdo.
Born to Hazel and Ralph MacMurdo, Austin, a loving husband leaves behind his beloved wife Sandra. A devoted father, he is survived by his children, Meghan (Dereck), Tommy, and Laura (Doug), and his grandchildren Keegan, Mackenzie, and Ivan.
Austin will be remembered fondly for his warmth, generosity and humour. He had many passions -- his love of sports, notably the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and golfing with his buddies. He was a great handyman and enjoyed puttering in the garden.
Among his many hobbies and interests, he dearly loved camping. One of his greatest accomplishments was participating in 4 Ironman Triathlons. He passed on his love of sports and activities to his children and grandchildren.
Austin enjoyed a long and rewarding career at St. Marys Cement in Bowmanville.
After a valiant battle with Leukemia, Austin passed peacefully on Friday October 25, 2024. He was surrounded with the love and care of friends, family and the exceptional staff at Princess Margaret Hospital.
There will be no funeral service. However, there will be a celebration of his life at a time and date to be provided by the family.
Those wishing to remember Austin could consider donating blood, making a donation to Canadian Blood Services or Princess Margaret Hospital.
Those we Love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day…unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. “Alex MacLean”
