Obituary of Ronald Botell
July 1, 1934 - October 28, 2024
We have been so very blessed and are so grateful to have shared in the beautiful life of our Dad and our Pappy, Ronald Francis Botell, for so long. His presence was massive to everyone and already he is so sadly missed.
Ron was surrounded in the love of family and friends because that’s exactly what he and Ann built - family, friends, love, and faith. Ron was the most incredible husband and very best friend to Ann, his wife, for almost 70 years. From a blind date to those almost 70 years, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Mom and Dad are the pillars of our family and every single one of us will continue to say - ‘that’ will never change!
Ron was the very best Dad to Terry and Tim, Greg, Mark and Libby, and Barbara, known to the whole family as Cheech. He was so loved as Pappy to Adam and Fiona, Matthew, Meaghan, Samantha, Kayleigh and Daniel, Jennifer and Devon, and to Pappy’s namesake Ronni, who proudly carries on her Pappy’s name. Ron was blessed with and he so loved his great grandchildren - Gabriel, Vivianna, Marigold, and Ezekial. Baby P is ‘on the way’ and Pappy would have loved and beamed with pride for this little one, just as he did with all the others. Ron is also survived by his loving sister, Joanne Binns and family. Pappy wouldn’t be happy if we didn’t mention his furry grandchildren - Barney, Eli, and Faith - as all our dogs have always been such a huge part of our family.
Ron was passionate about hockey, baseball, and all sports, and he’ll continue to wait from up above until the Leafs return as Stanley Cup champions. Ron also ‘loved’ a good chat with anyone, but especially with his family and all his beloved friends over the many years. You were all so cherished by Dad.
To our Dad and our Pappy…. our forever thanks for everything you provided for us, most especially the gifts of constant, stable, and secure love, for laughter, for family, and for faith. We are blessed to have walked this Earth with you but now it’s time for you to rest in God’s loving hands of peace. We love you so much Dad, our Pap, and we promise to take good care of Mom, our Nana. Until we meet again, may God bless you and keep you. Amen. ✝️
The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, November 5th at 10:30 am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Oshawa. Internment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Whitby.
