Susan and family, I am sending so much love and hope for peace to all of you.
I can hear 'in my mind's eye', Billy greeting me when we would visit and giving me the biggest bear hug.
Beautiful family dinners at the Perry house with our parents over many Christmas visits, helping Bill with Christmas dinners (lunches) for his students, travels to Charleston and Southern Hills..... my funniest memory, following a notorious member guest golf event, was of Billy calling out (app 2 AM) from the street in front of our house..."Shube give me a push!" (on a bike aiming for home).
I could go on and on with wonderful Billy stories but will wrap it up with "I miss him".
With love, Libby

Bill Perry was a kind and generous man.
When I was introduced to the OGC community Bill went out of his way to make me feel comfortable. He invited me to play in the Member Guest...with him...which was a first for me. I was nervous - Bill was warm and supportive and hid his disappointment with my game very well...by the 6th hole he handed me a beer and said "drink up my boy - were here for fun now..."
Bill was always the first to extend a hand and say hello. He was a true gem for anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Susan and family - you have our deepest sympathy. Hopefully the heartfelt comments and stories warm your hearts.
Bill touched many people. We miss him.

When I moved to this area, I joined the Bowmanville Golf Course and one of the very first guys I played with was Bill Perry, we hit it off right away and I knew that day that we would become great friends.over the years we had so many great golf trips together, so many laughs, and so much fun. Those memories will be with me forever. I am heart broken and will truly miss my best friend and golf partner.

Susan and Family,
I first met Billy in a hockey dressing room when I moved to Durham and was asked to play for the infamous Purple Pigs Thursday night men's league team. Like with everyone he welcomed me immediately. The team had questionable dedication but we showed our strength in the pub afterward. Billy and I often laughed at the evening that only our goalie showed up for the dreaded 11:30 PM game time. Pretty sure we lost that one.
From there it was on to the golf course where I was lucky to play many rounds of golf with Billy and travelled with him on numerous golf trips. There was never a better partner in the "$20 game" and not a better putter, chipper or organizer of the payouts in the pub afterward. He and his longtime friend Soup would chuckle as they "fed the pigeons" and then counted their winnings afterward.
It was a privilege to call Billy a friend and remember the many laughs we shared together. Since his passing I have thought often of the lives he has touched - as a family man, friend, colleague, golf buddy and educator. He has left his mark and we will ensure that his memory lives on.

I met Bill many years ago when he joined the club and I'm proud to say that Bill(Pops) became a very good friend from the day I met him. I remember he quickly became part of a group of foursomes who played together and did many golf trips together. Bill was fun to play with. He loved the game, enjoyed the courses, enjoyed the people he played with and really loved it when he beat you with his cut 3-wood or driver to the middle of the fairway! (Poopenflagen) was what he called it. My fondest memories are when we sat around the table after golf enjoying a beer and telling stories. Bill really enjoyed these times, he'd laugh, was always engaged in the conversation and he knew how to rub it in when he beat you!
I'm honored to have met and made a friendship with Bill(Pops). He will be missed. Rest in peace my friend!

Susan and family, I really got to know Bill much better during this Utah trip. From this Venomous snake i discovered his wonderful sense of humour and quick wit. He was so proud of his Newfoundland heritage and shared a few of his stories. I told Bill about another older friend who had also grown up in Newfoundland. Bill immediately gave to me to give to my friend a golf ball specially marked with the outline off his home province. This was Bill’s signature ball. This so demonstrated Bill’s generosity and my friend who was given the ball said “This is to special to use and play with, it is going on the living room mantle”. Much like we at OGC learned to love Bill even my friend who had never met Bill felt he was a great guy. And he was correct. RIP my friend.

So sorry Susan to hear of Bill's passing. In the short time I knew him, I did admire his jovial nature, wit, and his down-to-earth character, not to mention his love of decorating. Never did get our rounds of golf in but I know it would have been memorable too.
Peace to you and yours.

Susan and Family,
Although Bill was technically not my friend, I certainly felt like he was. From the warm “hello, Susan’s secretary” he gave me when he answered Susan’s cell phone to the kindness he showed to me always, Bill was certainly someone who I enjoyed being around. I am grateful for the time I spent with him, driving us to conferences, and ensuring there were ample snacks jokes along the way. Most of his jokes I had to think hard about because that east coast lingo sometimes requires translation. Bill was also incredibly gracious and hospitable, turning many a hotel room into a hospitality suite. Always making you feel comfortable and welcome. Dirk’s sentiments about Bill, parallel with my own. He fondly remembers our time together at the pub in the basement of a hotel in Cornwall. What laughs we had as he told stories of your lives together. Those stores captured our attention as we ate chicken wings and nachos and way too many libations. Truly Bill was a stand-up guy and someone that I was fortunate to have encountered in my lifetime. His loss is enormous because he has such a positive impact on everyone he met. Perry family, you are so fortunate to have had Bill as part of your immediate family because he brought so much joy to you and to so many others.
Our deepest sympathy for your loss. May you find solace in the happy memories of the time you shared together. xo. Belinda, Dirk and Logan

Bill was such a gentleman and I will miss his kind soul and joyous humour around the Oshawa Golf Club. Bill and I became friends shortly after becoming a member at our club back in 2019. His nickname was Pops and I have always interpreted it as a name given due to his mentorship to many that looked to him for advice in all facets of life and the game of golf. Rest in peace Bill (Pops), we’re going to miss but also remember you until it’s our time to walk beside you once again.
Your friend,

Like many I got to meet Billy at OGC.
I can remember the first round, he was very welcoming and had great whit. Like many rounds to follow I dipped into my pocket to pay him a few dollars. I can clearly remember Pops and Soup eagerly inviting me back the next week for another donation.
Over the years our friendship grew. Getting to know Susan and both Emily and Sarah. Both my wife Lib and I enjoyed many hand crafted meals that Susan prepared. Only to be topped off by the desert menu and one of Billy’s favourite coconut cream or maybe it was the lemon meringue or maybe the chocolate pie!
We had the opportunity to travel more than a few times on both golf trips and with our lovely spouses (which also turned out to be a golf trip!). Many great memories from these trips. We were lucky that our wives shared the same birthday and I am always thankful that he always reminded me!
Billy was also very handy. Whenever you had a problem he was quick to have a solution and usually the exact tool you needed to fix the issue (in many cases more that one tool!).
To many incredible other memories from the Purple Pigs to 50th and 60th birthday golf trips and one recently in Florida last November.
Billy you will be missed by many. Deepest condolence to you Susan, Emily and Sarah. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather!
Sharing a recent photo with some of the golf guys!

Last spring I invited BILL to come to a golf trip to Utah. He knew none of the guys except myself and Gavin Watts. He fit in like glove with his great sense of humour One day Bill, Gavin, and myself we’re going to the liquor store. what a surprise and Bill saw sign, in the liquor store saying no venomous snakes or firearms allowed Gavin and I were a few steps ahead of him and did not see the sign He then said to the security guard watch those guys they’re a couple of venomous snakes we laugh at that comment for the rest of the week. That was truly Bills sense of humour. We will miss you, Bill in Utah next year the boys will give a big toast to you. No one to make the coffee for us. Keep chipping and putting you were the best at that!! Bax

I met Bill 18 years ago when I joined Oshawa Golf Club, and became one of his many golf buddies. Bill rarely missed a day of golf unless he was watching grandkids or spending time with Susan. He would show up 15 seconds before his tee time, put on his glove, tee up his ball, then proceed to take his glove off again, as he would have a story or a joke to tell us. Never in a hurry. Bill was the GOAT of ball hawking, even when we were a hole behind. “You can’t half cheat” might be his calling card, as he reminded us when we were allowed to lift, clean and place. I will miss our times in the 19th hole, discussing the game, trying to figure out the betting, or just listening to more stories and jokes. We had lots of great late night discussions on the many golf trips we took. I vividly remember a night in Michigan, about 3:00 am, Bill sitting in a chair with pen, paper, scotch, and a cigar, collecting everyone’s nicknames that they had over the years. He wanted the reason for the nicknames as well. I always smiled, thinking of that night, whenever he used mine. Every Canada Day and Remembrance Day game, Bill would pack a cooler with some libations, and we would have a toast on the 12th tee. If the group behind was playing with us, he would leave theirs for them on the bench.
Bill, you have set the bar high, but we will do our best to keep the traditions alive.
You will be sorely missed my friend.
Sending our love to Susan and family.
Brian and Shelley Neilson.

My favourite memory of Bill is of him doing morning announcements at St. Leo and Holy Cross Catholic Schools! Starting the school day with Bill's jovial voice was always such a comfort. If there was ever a day when Bill didn't do the announcements, it was such a let down and all the children felt so deflated. He really went out of his way to make sure that everyone in the building felt safe and happy.
My other favourite memory of Bill was the wad of cash he would walk around with at Christmas time. Bill would save his change all year and then convert it to bills. All through Advent he would walk around with this wad of cash and whip it out any time anyone needed something. I can't remember what I had said to Bill to discover this, but one day, in my kindergarten classroom, Bill gave me cash to buy something for a family in need.
What a great guy! My all time favourite principal!
Sending my condolences to Susan and Bill's beloved daughters. What a tremendous loss.

Dear Susan, Sarah, Emily and Extended Family,
Our hearts are broken at the loss of an amazing husband, father, grandpa and an extraordinarary man.
"Billy" lived a life of service, love and enjoyment. He always made those around him feel at ease.
Whether it was a visit to our place in Tilly, a rendezvous in Florida or a chance get together when he would catch up with Paul in London, Toronto or points in between, we always felt a connection and closeness. He had a mischevious grin and quick wit - especially on the golf course. From our limited time together, it was obvious how much he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and life itself. We will always remember him fondly and can only send our sincere condolences to you all. You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. I hope some of these photo's allow you to hold on to peaceful and joyful memories.
