I don't know when I met Eric, but he was one of the nicest, warmest teachers I have ever met. Both teachers, we probably met at an inservice, workshop or Scarborough event. Everytime I met Eric, he was so funny, friendly and unassuming. A very special man and teacher. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed. Anne Pearsall

I was so sad to hear of Eric's passing. Both Don and I were friends with Eric, Don through playing on the "Old Timers" hockey team, and me from teaching days at J.S. Woodsworth Sr. School where Eric was probably the most popular teacher with the kids and best liked by the staff. I still have the cartoon of me (not so flattering!) that he drew when I went on maternity leave. We shared grandchildren updates a few years ago on a chance meeting and I know he will be missed by all, but will always be looking down to be sure everyone is okay and still smiling. Eric was simply the best.

Eric was such a great teacher, mentor and friend. We worked together at Highcastle for many years. We coached slo pitch and volleyball together. Eric drew cartoons of our Buffalo trips - ladies Buffalo trips - but he always insisted the guys were going to "show up" on one of our trips. Eric was full of fun. We walked the picket line together and became the famous "Widecastle" group due to our excessive eating on the line. Eric drew that group too - still have it! I was fortunate to have bumped into Eric and Pat recently and both were so excited to tell me of the births of their three grandchildren - a new chapter of life! Thinking of you all at this sad time. We are very sad to hear of Eric passing away. I only met him once and thought he was a very nice man. I heard nothing but good things about him from my mother in law as she always told me stories about her visits to Pat and Eric and how much fun they would have. She always told me what a great man he was and how all the residents loved him in the old folks home he would visit. We are thinking of you all, especially today. Sending hugs to Ontario.

I can't tell you how deeply saddened I was at hearing of Eric's passing.
I worked with Eric for several years at Highcastle Public School in Scarborough and fondly remember the wonderful times we had together. Eric was such a wonderful teacher, grabbing the student's attention with his art and his sense of humour; he was a wonderful staff member, contributing and participating in songs for special occasions and using his sense of humour to make us all laugh; he was a wonderful friend, making my boys Ninja Turtles faces on little rocks, which we still have; he was a wonderful person and he will be missed, but not forgotten. My condolences to the family. Elaine Binning

I am very saddened to hear of Eric's passing. I knew him through his many years of supply teaching at Percy Williams school. Eric always came into my class with fun and imaginative art ideas that the students loved. Eric and I would often chat during lunch and he would always speak so proudly of his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by the entire Percy staff. His Percy PAL will always be there to remind us of Eric's creativity and love of teaching.
